Tell me more about the rear strip LEDs. Are they installed inside the lens?

You have to buy load resistor - 6 ohm, 50 Watts ($10.00 for a pair)

WOW! They look GREAT! Can you let me know how you wired them to the rear array without getting a "Message" for rear lights? I have a 2006 R350 and really want to do the same. Thanks Steve

First, splice (solder) both led strip lights together. (+ to +, - to -). Pre test LED strip light to find out which wire is potitive and which wire is negative.

Ground one wire of LEd strip light to chassis ground (there is one near inside the gas tank door). The positive wire of LED strip light to the gray wire of rear tail light connector (the first gray wire (pin #1) look from the rear of connector).
Note: I connected in line 2 Amp fuse to the postive wire before inserted into the back of pin 1 (I put more solder onto the stripped wire and inserted from the back of connector so it will snug contact with pin 1 connector)

I will take the picture of the gray wire of rear tail light connector which I inserted the positive wire of LED strip light to.

I like the LED fogs. Do you have any pics/info and how/where you spliced in the resistors?

Thanks, for taking the picture to show me. When you say- First, splice (solder) both led strip lights together. (+ to +, - to -). Does that mean it's two strips per side?

I love what you did to the front fog lights as well. Any ideas on what I could do to put some sort of white strip lites in the front. The problem is I don't have fog lights. I think the wires are there in the harness but there's something about reprograming the computor to activate them? You seem to be the lighting pro here!! Thanks again Steve

One strip per side.
When you wire them parallel, they will be on the same time.

You can wire each LED strip light separate but you have to to connect each light to brake light (left and right).
You can also connect to top center LED light if you can find the wire behind rear molding wihout removing the top panal hatch back.

For the front, you can connect the LED light or LED strip light to side marker to turn it on.

Here are the pics as I promised.

- Gray wire is for the brake light that tied to the new red positive wire from LED strip lights.
-Ground location for negative wires from LED strip loghts.

- Wires via rubber molding at the bottom chassis that lead to inside spare trunk.

The load resistor is wired paralell to the existing OEM harness (one to the postive and other to the negative)

Note: Resistor does not have (+) or (-), so wire it any way you want.

Resistors get hot....is there a different resistor size to use to avoid too much heat? Would a larger resistor make it warm to the touch?

Why would you want to touch as well as touch the bulb?
As you can see the first post, the load resistor is heat sink fin aluminum and mounted to metal housing bulb holder so the heat will dissipate to metals without burn anything.

.

It will work but no intensity very low means it will not bright enough to help you see the road.
Aftermarket HID is much better, I have 55W 4300K HID on low beam and much better than OEM 35W halogen.
My fog lights now is 35W HID now and see the road much better than OEM or LED light (this LED is just for white color but not for brightness)

Hi,

Have you tried the Cree LED bulbs? And do you think this would provide more light than your HID?

Thanks

All LED bulbs are not bright as HID xenon bulbs due to lower current (power) draw.

I have already changed my fog lights to HID xenon and much brighter like the low beam light.

2008 R350
Question

Hey Asian
I'm new to this forum. I'm getting a 2008 white R350 and want to update the lights with LEDS. I want to change the daytime light bulbs which is easy. What size bulb did you use? I see you changed the fogs. Did you replace the whole light or can just the bulb be changed? You said you used an H7 bulb for the fogs, where did you buy it?
I'm changing the wheels to 505's from a CLS500, should look hot. I'll post pics.

Hey AsianR350,

Do your LED Fog bulbs have Active Turning assist where the fog lamp lights up as you are turning into that side? ie do they light up when you are turning left or right? And ifso, do the LEDs have variable intensity? or only ON or OFF?

Thanks
