License Plate bulb error

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know most of us has this license plate bulb error all the time on the dashboard. And when you check at the back its kind of "on and off" thing. bulb still okey. Would like to know what other best solution for this. Anybody tried something. Need your high opinion and suggestion. I run out of Tylenol already.

Open up the housing and clean up the contacts. Bend in the tabs that hold the bulb so its a tighter fit.

That also drove me crazy. There is a electrical gel that you can buy a tube of at any electrical shop. I put a dab of that gel on the two ends of the blub after cleaning and have never had that error again!!

I tried that "bending" thing and after awhile there it goes again. I`m just scared after so much bending it might break on me. In opening the housing is it just loosening the 2 torx and then what next? I dont to break anything at this point. Just spend a new muffler for my 02ML320. let me know, Benzo if you already tried it. Thanks.

Don't have to bend the tabs, that will break them over time here is the gel I used. It is made to prevent corrosion. and alway keep a good sealed contact regardless of the blubs being rattled over a rough road or potholes.

Super Lube® Corrosion and Connector Gel

so how do you apply these thing. Again ...Shobbb thank you for your time. Actually, I`m thinking of opening the rear door to open up the wires of that license plate to see if which causes loss of contact.

You don't have to waste your time checking the wiring, that's not the problem. That rear hatch is opened and closed, also the road has bumps, and potholes. The problem is the type of tabs that are used to hold the blub, over time they loosen, not enough to let go but just enough to blink off and come back on. During that blink the computor thinks the lite has brunt out and the error message appears. That gel fills in the gaps in the tabs and makes the blub keep in contact at all times. The gel I used came in a tube, and you only have to put a dab on each metal end of the blub and then push the blub back. The gel looks like vaseline or grease, but its properties allow an electrical current to pass through. It also pervents corrosion.
