THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT MY R CLASS
(148K virtually trouble free miles )
Tip:
By no means ever store anything that may leak liquid, in the
rear storage area. The fuse box is located under the access
door for the spare tire and liquid will find its way into the compartment.
There is a cover of sorts over the fuse box but it didn't help much.
I found out the hard way when my cooler
full of ice started leaking water and shorted out a couple of fuses.
Fortunately is was minor and cost only $150 for the fix. My mechanic said it could of been much much worse !

I was thinking of switching out my 18" to 20" or 21" or 22" - wasnt sure on the 22" due to right and handling.
I have 2006 R350 4Matic
I loaded 2 upholstered easy chairs over the weekend (one was a recliner) and found out that some items which can not quite fit into the back through the rear hatch can more easily fit into the back through an open side door. (Of course, with the seats all folded down.) The rear hatch is much smaller than the interior space, but the side opening is larger or at least taller.
1. This seems to only occur if you have the rain sensing wipers left on at startup. I have an acquaintance with an E350 and his front wipers do a startup sweep if he leaves them on.
2. I tried this on my 2010 and it does not seem to work that way, at least for the newer models.
3. This works, but I think it works off of infrared so you have to stand by the drivers door and point the end of the key at the door. You can see the infrared sensor on the door.
4. Very few newer if any new models have headlight washers installed. I think it used to come only with the HID lights, but no longer. I don't have HID so I could be wrong.

Best to clean all the windows with extra care and the treatment will last longer. Use 00 steel wool after normal cleaning and they almost don't need RainX. The extra effort is what makes the water bead off better. RainX fills the microscopic craters that are inherent in glass albeit microscopically. I have been using RainX on every jet I flew that the windows open. DC-10, B-727, C-130, C-141 except the 747 as they don't open. Just applied to the windows. You didn't know there is a warning in the window frames so pilots don't forget to close them... Best auto or aviation product ever that works exactly as promised.

I can only assume the thought here was that a family packed in for a road trip will cause you to need a beer on the drive.
