Pls help to clarify if this is a missing part (photo inside)?

Hi everybody,

Recently I've bought R-500 MY06 and I'm very happy with it :-) Everything is fine, but when I opened the hood to add 1 liter of oil (after polite request from the car :-), I've discovered strange "place" in the engine bay, it is circled on the photo. It looks like something is supposed to be there, at least it looks like fitting for some missing part...

Please help me to identify, what is that, and if I need to add it there.

Many thanx in advance :-)

That area is for some electronic thing for the diesel version of the car I believe. I have a 2006 R500 and it looks the same way

By the way my R500 drinks about 1 qt of oil every 3000 miles, dealer stated consumption was within normal tolerances

Thanx for the info on missing part as for the oil - my R500 asks for adding 1 liter of oil every 1000 kilometers, and my mechanic says it's OK, as the car has 130,000 km now.

Yikes, 1 liter per 1000 kilometers is not OK. I have always heard 1000 miles is the minimum.

Check for intake turbo seal ...I got similar answer (it's normal ) until I spent more time and found about above problem. When you have a problem with seal, you cannot see any leak due to oil is burning around turbo ...

my 0.02 ...
