Has anyone installed a phone package? Is there an after market? My FORD ESCAPE automaticly connects to my cell when I get in the car, after that it's hands free to make or recieve calls. Any idea's??

SHobbs666,

There are threads among the forums which discuss how to install the bluetooth dongle so that your phone will connect. Open your console top level. Do you see a device that looks a little like a garage door opener? If it isn't there, is there a connecting device located near the front of the console?

1) If the dongle is there, read your owners manual on how to connect your phone. The code to enter into the phone is the numbers that correspond to MBUSA on the car's dialpad.

2) If there is no dongle but there is a connector, search on the forum for "bluetooth dongle" or "MB bluetooth connector" here on the forum. You may be able to find it for around $300+. I bought mine on eBay and paid the asking price, which was at least $200 less than the dealer wanted. As assurance, call MB parts and get the specific part number applicable for your model year and VIN. Make sure that you purchase that model.

3) If there is not a connecting device, you are SOL for using MB standard equipment. Motorola has an aftermarket device that attaches to the visor that works quite well. I used one for my 98 Volvo S90.

Best wishes for a successful outcome.

Thanks for the post Tinman22. I have looked in the center console and have none of the connections front or back. When I press the phone button on the command center what shows is “No phone service available”. I was hoping that someone had the same situation and was able to purchase an aftermarket devise that could hook up to the module that is under the passenger seat which would make the phone features active though the command center. Or am I completely SOL and forget about using command center all together?

You can buy the Cartronics solution but it costs $850 or something. Better off with a $50 solution for the visor as mentioned above

We do have less expensive solutions that are FULLY integrated into the car - same as factory. A visor bluetooth has to be charged or batteries replaced. You have to turn down the radio, and back up - and none of the built in functions of your very nice Mercedes will work with a visor.

Cartronics

Thanks, I looked at the link, the iTronic BT for $799 is what I need. Or is there one that’s less. I do like the iPod hook up. You can PM me if you can with the other option.
