Update:
Found this on line:
Check Engine Light Due to Faulty Camshaft Adjuster Solenoid
The camshaft adjuster solenoid (which is related to the variable valve timing system) may fail or timing chain/balance shaft components may wear, resulting in illumination of the Check Engine Light and various drivability issues. Mercedes-Benz has released a service bulletin outlining specific repair instructions depending on fault codes stored.

Here is my SA message:
Hi Larry,
How are you?
Yes your vehicle applies to this. It does not take verfy long to do so you can schedule this with us and wait for it. I'll
treat you to breakfast at Perkins.
Give us a call and the girls will schedule you in at your
convenience. Mornings are best.
Take care,
Pete
For those folks who own 08 R350, call the dealer for info.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I could do it myself but decided to have the dealer did it because I was there this morning to have the solenoid wiring harness replaced.
My 2008 r350 is currently in the shop for a CEL and it was also due to the camshaft solenoids. However, the SA is telling me that it doesn't apply to the magnets. He gave some analogy like 'close but no cigar'. Basically, the magnet though part of the solenoid is not included in the TSB. Anyone experience this issue?
Is not the cam magnet part of the camshaft solenoid?

I'm a bit skeptical still of the dealer we recently switched to.
On the battery... there is nothing easy about changing it. Mine was DEAD while pulled forward in a parking spot at my wifes work. Mind you, the battery is under the ELECTRIC passenger seat, which means I had to:
- get the car in neutral
- beg some help pushing it uphill to a position I could reach the jumper cables
- start the car
- go park somewhere more convenient
- move the electric seat all the way forward
- turn off car
- cut carpet and partially destroy the battery cover (didn't have a torx in the emergency kit)
- change out (surprisingly large) battery
- go home and freebase some back pain medicine.
For information, my 2006 R350 has only 89k miles on it and I am only the 2nd owner. The vehicle has been serviced at an independant service center that only services Mercedes at every scheduled maintenance. The vehicle has had no trouble up until now.
I have a couple of questions, 1)has anyone ever succeeded in having MB pay for the repairs and 2) does anyone know if not having the vehicle serviced at a MB dealership "void" any sort of accountability for MB to stand behind their product. I purchased the vehicle used without any extended warranty, so I was not aware that I had to have my car serviced at the dealership.
Any help that I can get would be much appreciated.
