Folding mirrors are jerking when closing

Folding mirrors are jerking when closing
Hi there, just wondering if there is a re-sync procedure for the auto-folding mirrors. When they close the driver side mirror continues to jerk a few times when in the closed position as if it is trying to close further.

Maybe a sync issue or a limit switch?

Had the same problem back in July just before my trip to Florida. My mechanic sprayed a little wd40 and all was good.

Well, I just took a look at them and lubrication is not the issue. When the mirror reaches the fully retracted position the motor continues to run and skips on the last tooth of the gear anywhere from 3 to 7 times. If I hold down the button it will skip indefinitely.

I've turned off the convenience retraction until I get the issue resolved.

Was it both mirrors or only one of the two? I had problems with the driver's side a couple of years ago, and the dealer changed the mechanism. I'm not sure what the cost was as the car was still under warranty. However, back in July, the passenger mirror was acting up, and my mechanic sprayed it with wd40 while I was in the car opening and closing the mirrors a couple of times. It's worth you trying it as well.

Just the driver side. I lubed it up and it didn't help.

Try working in that WD40. My passenger side was doing the same back in July. As mentioned, my mechanic sprayed it while I was opening and closing them with the switch and, presto, it worked! Haven't had any problem since. Even after getting blasted by torrential rain on the west coast of Florida for over two weeks and the salt air of Clearwater back in July and August.

Have you had a long drive with your R? You'll love it on the highway! It's solid, has decent power, handles great, super quiet inside and you feel like a million bucks driving it.
