10th Anniversary Upgrade Project for 2010 R350 4Matic
While contemplating how to finish the remaining 5 projects left for this anniversary face life/upgrade, I noticed some A*SH**E broke my left mirror cover by either slamming it in a certain direction. I really hate theses era Benz side mirror designs with their rubber gaskets that cannot be replaced by itself (mine are cracking) and they way the fold in hard and bounce back hard (which is prone to breaking).
Anyhow, I usually stick with genuine Benz parts but a set (L & R) of updated styled side mirrors at 2/3 of the price of ONE genuine part sold me. Just received them and installed it. I really didn't mind the look of the original design, but these give it an updated look with LED appeal. The floor lamps are white LEDs vs. the yellow halogen originals. Quality wise, it's alright, you get what you pay for.

Edit: probably go with a set of complete facelift mirrors. They're much larger than the tiny pre-facelift ones, which is important for towing.

Frustration! The rear view mirror is loose, which I don't mind. But, when it movies around when going over bumps, it's bothering. I read up some ideas on the forum/internet and tried the cable tie method. Seems a little tighter, but not satisfied. There is a metal ring that goes over the ball joint. The cable tie goes over the ring as tight as possible, but I'm having mediocre results. Took it all apart again and put a piece of paper towel in the ball joint. Problem solved! Also cleaned the unit and wrapped the wires with cloth electric tape to cover the deteriorating wire foam (see photo).
Thanks for the great writeup!
Started with the tie-wrap. Fingers crossed. On really hot days, the metal expands and lets it swing around, that's what is causing the loose mirror.
Shocking how much is going on inside the mirror. There's like 2 computers in there.
Thanks again for the inspiration and the tips! My 2007 R320 cdi thanks you.
Really love the wheels, btw.

immediately I did the following upgrades
I upgraded rims to 20s
Added factory style mudflaps
Amg Style center caps
The 20’s with 265 tires with the mud-flaps give a eider stands
more and more now car turns head as not alot of r classes around , some people don’t even know what car it is
nothing done on the interior yet but I’m looking for very good brand of stereo that will work well with the existing setup
any recommendation guys?
thanks
