Seattle R63 Build/ Photo Thread

I haven't checked up on you for a while and it is great to see that you still have a few nice surprises up your sleeve. Love the CF mirrors and painted calipers. You have a remarkable ride.
I was reminded to see what you have been up to after a trip to Seattle (my first) last weekend (not too far from your stomping grounds) where I had a very nice afternoon tour in a Black R350. I was reminded how nice the "standard" R350 is to be whisked around in. I liked the fact that it seemed much more car like from a ride height perspective than my GL.
Kind regards
Sorry about that. I have too many photos and too much traffic on this thread that I seem to hit my monthly bandwidth limit on Photobucket all the time. It should work now.
Haha that's awesome! Always nice seeing other members around town.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Yes I have placed an order for a 2015 E63 Wagon. You can find more info here: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...e63-wagon.html
Of course when the car comes in- a build and photo thread will be started. Don't worry, the R isn't going anywhere, simply an addition to the stable.
Along with that news, I've got a full set of updates on the latest mods for the R. This is really the last round of big mods for this car as my attention has now focused on parts and modifications for the upcoming E.
First off, AMG floor mats. As you know the R63 was only built one model year, 2007. The first run of R63s had the same carpet floor mats as the rest of the R lineup, however, later on in the year Mercedes-Benz made a running change and included AMG branded floor mats for all three rows. I had two options to get the floor mats, either go with the MB part number or the Accessories part number- both of which are the same physical product yet they yield significantly different prices over the parts counter. The MB part number comes out to a ridiculous cost of ~$800 while the accessory item is in the mid $100 range. The issue is that the US inventory for the accessory mats are hit or miss. Instead I had MBenzNL hook me up with this set from Europe where they are readily available.

Next up I have some more goodies from MBenzNL. I got an OEM kit to install heated seats for the third row. The only car I've ever seen with heated third row seats is the G XXL when I visited AMG headquarters back in 2006. I've always thought those were so cool and it's perfect for those chilly days when I have a full car. This feature was never offered on the R-Class but I used all MB OEM parts to affix it to the third row. Big shout out to Eurosport Park Avenue for helping me with this install as it required special knowledge to get this done right.
The heated seat pads are from a 166 body, switches from a 463, control unit from a 202, and wiring harness from a 463. Unfortunately MB's newer square style buttons require communications with CANBUS so we couldn't use that. Instead this whole system works with its own computer and just requires power from the car.

And the final mod I've done to the car is also cosmetic. It's Brabus' puddle lights. These light up when I unlock the car and they turn up brighter when I open the doors. I had them wired in such a way that they are on very dimly while driving (only when headlights are on) and I can turn them on full brightness if I turn on my dome lights up front. They lights can be shut off permanently (while driving and unlocked) if I press the button to turn off interior lights to be opened while the doors are open. Another big shout out to Eurosport for the install on this one.
They consist of five LED clusters per side and you're supposed to drill them into the bottom of your side skirts. Due to the unique non flat bottom of my Lorinser side skirts, they were fit onto my black plastic undertray behind the side skirts. And at the two edges, the jack indent for lifting up the car is situated in such a way that not all five lights could be straight. Only the middle three are closest to the outside edge of the car while the two end ones are slightly further in. Despite this, they still look really cool!

I'd been watching to get wheel ideas and your build has inspired me. Thanks!

I didn't go with the whole aftermarket look on my car as far as the rims are concerned. I like my OEM+ look but a set of 22" HREs or ADVs would be pretty sweet as well.
Just when we thought there were no more cosmetic mods you could do, you come up with a few final goodies. The heated third row is pure over the top luxury and really cool. Love the OEM look of the switch in the third row. I do not have that in my 2014 GL63 . . . Also, like the puddle lights. Very, very nice. I continue to be impressed with your creativity and abilities to implement these quite technical upgrades.
Great work!!
Kind regards

@Chris, I can't wait to see how your project turns out. I've followed your other builds in the past and I've always been impressed.

Thank you so much!
I want to get a dyno day together also. I'm going to have a lot more free time after the Oct 20th.

; miss there...
Oh really!
