For Streamliner
When I saw this pic, you came to mind (pic from the Daimler press release above).
On a side note, after reading the press release, the C-Deac does appear kind of complex. Have these 4.0's been out in Europe yet, or does MB have any cars with c-deac already out?

Glide mode is present on all of them and has been for some time, that's a function of the transmission/engine computers, nothing to do specifically with the cylinder deactivation. Deactivation happens when the engine is still moving the vehicle, usually under complete coasting when you would be in glide mode, the injectors shut down so running 4/8 cylinders makes no difference. Some manufactures call it DFCO, Deceleration fuel cut off, I don't know if Benz has a specific name for it but it's there.

Very possible. It does create a specific resonance that has to be accounted for. Some manufacturers use magnetic fluid filled motor mounts to stiffen/soften them as needed for the cyl deactivation modes, to prevent you from feeling the engine running on an unbalanced firing order. The Cab may have a body harmonic that they can't fix.

And thank you for the info on the glide mode.
