Mercedes Build Site Updated...
The build site has been updated. You can now build a 2018 S560 Coupe as well as the AMG models. What's strange is that it doesn't agree with the 2018 DOG. The biggest surprise to me is that there is no option for Selenite Gray, arguably one of the most popular colors across the entire brand. Also gone are a couple of interior color combos shown in the DOG.
I am going to order an S Coupe for October European Delivery and sat down with my salesman last week to do the preliminary build. It will be a Model Year 2019. He was able designate Selenite Gray with no problem, so I'm wondering if the build site is incomplete, in error or whether the short run of 2018's will not be available in that color. I incidentally have a 2019 S Coupe DOG that shows Selenite Gray as an option and more interior choices than the build site as well. I plan to get the saddle brown combo and it still is shown fortunately.
Another observation...the base price for 2018 is $124,500...only a couple thousand more than 2017. BUT...the 2017 base model coupe on the build site near the end of MY 2017 had what is now essentially the AMG body package as a standard look. The 2018 base model, to my eye in pictures is a plain Jane looking car and the AMG Body Package is an additional $5900. The 2017 build site just before the changeover didn't even include the AMG Package as an option. The only upcharge was for AMG wheels. So, essentially to get the same body "look" as the 2017 base model, the 2018 "base" is closer to $130,400.
None of this matters too much to me...still going to buy the car. It's just confusing.

Rad 22, could you please post the 2019 s-coupe DOG or direct me to where it can be found. I plan to buy as soon as details available.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the notice. I built my 2018 S63 Cab successfully with it. $202K! Gulp. I'm supposed to be getting a May build slot.

It's interesting...wonder if anyone from Mercedes could explain.
Doing some further research, I drove over to a nearby Mercedes dealer today which had a new 2017 S coupe on the showroom floor. It has the AMG body package/wheels and there is a $5900 AMG sport package option on the sticker. That car was built in very early 2017. Further, I located a 2017 DOG and it clearly delineates a $5900 AMG sport package. And yet, during the final months of the 2017 configurator, the pictures of base car, before any configuration, had the clearly identifiable AMG Body Package and there was no AMG sport package option available...just the wheels. I know this to be true because I built my car at least 25-30 times on the configurator during fits of boredom and overly eager anticipation. Sadly, all of my saved builds were deleted by Mercedes with the new configurator.
I am guessing that the last few 2017's were built out with the package...still at the old base price.
