Hello, im looking to buy a 2017/2018 S-Class Coupe here in the near future. Im just wondering if there are common problems I should look out for and what to avoid. Also, would love some feedback on the car as well.
Just had a bad experience with a on-OEM windshield replacement (hud distortion, excessive reflection and wind noise) see earlier thread!
Other than that I bought a 2015 and love it, although I do have a couple of minor but niggling creaks/rattles, one in the headliner near rear view mirror. So I would say that’s another thing to look out for.
If you plan to get winter tires, there are actually more choices with the 20” than the 19s that I have. If I were to do it again, I would have got 20s.
good luck, overall it’s a great car!

If buying thru MB dealer, check the weatherstripping between the windows on the driver side. Many show a tear about an inch or so from the top. Not covered under the CPO warranty so get it replaced (expensive job) before purchase if needed. Also, have them replace the batteries (2) as dealers are willing to do such things w/o charge to sell their cars. They're expensive and a bear to change. Lastly, BE SURE to get the car on a lift to check the undercarriage. These cars are very low and easily bottom out. The '16 CPO I bought had significant paint damage underneath so I had the dealer repair all damages including the replacement of 2 front lower panels. before purchase. None of this damage was visible from walking around the car.
So far the only major problem I've had is I can't stop driving it.

The S-Class coupe is the upper echelon where luxury sportiness meets daily drivability. It has the most comfortable ride in its class. It's easy to sit back, relax, and let adaptive cruise control man the ship. Here's a clip of an S550 coupe walkaround I made. Hopefully this makes your decision easierOriginally Posted by L_Akle

The air suspension will give out eventually. It's a wear and tear part and frankly I wish they would stop using them. Just give me a well balanced strut without air.
But I wouldn't pay dealer prices, I replaced it myself using Arnott air struts which last longer anyway. I didn't do it on my S Coupe but did it on a CLS.
