2019 S560 Coupe
Popping/dropping noise from speaker
I have a 2019 S560 that I bought CPO from out of state a few months ago. It arrived with a lot wrong with it - glove box would not close properly, the car was filthy inside with stains on the alcantara roof and inside the glove box and trunk, roof rails were not flush to the body, etc. I got all of that fixed (under warranty) but one nagging issue remains. When I am listening to audio in the car (could be Carplay, radio, Sirius - and whether music or talk) there is a loud noise coming from the back of the car. It almost sounds like someone is dropping something behind me or something is rattling around in the trunk and sliding around.
The first time I heard it, I actually thought to myself, wow, this radio is great, a world better than my SL - I didn't even know that song had percussion in it there! The next time, I actually pulled over to the side of the road to see what was moving around in the trunk. Needless to say, both were wrong.
It is an intermittent noise, sometimes I don't hear anything for minutes at a time, other times, it happens repeatedly within the same song. I seem to notice it far more when I'm the driver, which leads me to believe it is a speaker on the driver side that is acting up. As a passenger in the car, I almost never hear it, and neither do any of my passengers. On the very rare occasion, I hear a lighter, higher pitched popping from the dash area.
I took it into the dealership where I service my car and they kept it for a few days. They said they couldn't replicate the problem and for me to "record" it the next time it happens. It still keeps happening on a daily basis, usually every few minutes. I notice it is more pronounced on bass heavy music - R&B and hip-hop or rock more than classical or talk radio, but I still hear it on occasion on those.
This is one of the only things I hate about this car (that I otherwise love). And it is driving me nuts. I'm planning on taking it in to another dealership soon to see if perhaps their service department is better able to diagnose and (hopefully) repair the issue. But before I do, I didn't see any other posts here during a search, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Has anyone has a similar problem or heard of anyone that has?

Provide VIN to confirm if you have code 810 or 811 sound system, two different rear shelf speaker systems.

Agree should be checked under warranty. Dealer should have pulled codes which would have identified malfunctioning amp you can inspect rear speaker, or request next dealer do it since problem is intermittent.

Wow, I can't thank you enough for providing me with all of that info. I really do greatly appreciate it. I won't be able to get the car in for a little while to have the next dealer check it, but I appreciate being armed with all this data when I do. Cheers to you!
