hey Hat, before you repaint it, remove any previous paint/primer and try using a brand called "Bulldog" (available at an automotive paint supply store)... this helps (in a big way if I might add) for primer & paint to STICK to the plastic. The ABS plastic grill insert doesn't take on painted/primered substrates well (which explains the chipping). I've used Bulldog on mine and the paint is stuck on like glue. I didn't even primer it.

If I were you, I'd go black. Although your grill looks good now, it looks too new that it's making everything else look old. So, go black for the new paint job!

Thanks I'll give it a try. Not looking forward to painting the grill once a year and the chips look like crap.

I've tried scratching off the paint in inconspicuous areas and the paint sticks VERY well... I scratched it of course, but it took alot of pressure. The paint I used is automotive paint - ordered it at an automotive paint store (the grey tone on the rocker panels/bumpers) and shot it with a spray gun.
I'm also going to use Bulldog on the sideview mirrors (after I sand off the old metallic grey paint) so that I can paint it a gloss black to match the body.
