1st gear start module
Since Bergwerks is out of business, does anyone know whether another manufacterer makes the 1st gear start module for the W(126)? Thanks!

Nope. No one else makes them and I asked a BergWerks principal about running off another batch but the investment to get do enough of them to get them back to a reasonable price would tie up too much money for inventory sitting on a shelf. Can't do a dozen or so, it would have to be 50 or 60 of them, I think. Anyway, the answer is nope.

There is a guy over at 500Extacy that has a bunch of first gear start computers. If you want one go ask CaptRuf about it. He is around here once in a while as well. I dont know about pricing but he has a kit that works in most cars with 2nd gear start.

Perhaps you could look into the compatibility of the FGS modules in gen1 W126's, apparently all gen1 V8's had them
My gen1 '85 500SEL has a module under the dash, which I have modified for first gear start
I don't know exactly what the device is but it allows FGS once it's been given a very simple modification

I don't really see a need for a module. When I want to take off in first gear. I just momentarily switch down to B and then back to D while sitting at a traffic light. This sets the switch to start in first gear for this time only. When the light turns green, I take off like a shot and leave the pretentious pickup truck revving up beside me in the dust.
