Ok I going to buy Chrome rims for my '91 Smoke Silver Metalic 560SEL.
I'm torn with staying with the 15" 15 hole rim or buy the 15" or 16" 8 hole version similar to the early W140's. I'm going chrome because even though a lot of posters here hate them, I have fender chrome to put on also. So what's the consensus 8 or 15 hole chrome rims? I'm leaning towards 16" 8 hole with some nice UHP 225/55-16's and keep my oem's for winter.

I have a W(126). Recently, I just purchased from tirerack the 16'' ASA Type 8 wheels along with Avon Tech M550: size: Front: 225/55wr16; Rear: 245/50wr16.
All I can is: OH MY GOD! The performance level from this set-up is outragous! I have taken some very sharpe turns at very high speed and my vehicle didn't flinch. The Avon's are very quite, and just as comfortable or even more comfortable than the stock wheels along with the Michelin MXV's. Also, the launch from a standstill is greatly improved as well. Price: a little over $1000.00
Appearance: Since the installation, I've receive so many praises regarding my vehicle's appearance. Trust me when I say this is the best $1000.00 investment that you will spend for performance upgrades on your vehicle! Go for it!
However, I would get the hypersilver finish instead of the chrome for two reasons: The chrome finish doesn't last as long. Secondly, the chrome plating adds additional weight to which the W(126)'s suspension was designed to handle like the newer models.

If you like the classic MB look, you can't really go wrong with either the 15- or 8-hole design. Originally Posted by BENZORELSE

IMO the 15-hole is a bit of a link between earlier S-classes (including the Bundt wheels on gen. 1 W126s and W116s) and later 8-hole designs used on W140, R129 and W124 including the legendary 500E.
Like I said, can't really go wrong with either...and it's classic Benz either way.

Not bad! But, the offset is too high. (Et. 37) For all W(126) sedans, the offset is Et. 11, 21, 23. Anything else will require spacers and it still may not be completely adaptable to the W(126)'s suspension geometry. Hence, this complication could result in a abnormal ride.

Despite the offset problem those 18" wheels are fantastic!
As for the original question, I say the 8-holes are the one's to go for, they're a great looking wheel, in chrome or painted

I saw the same wheels by eurotech before I made my final selection. The positive thing that I like is that they are guaranteed to fit your vehicle correctly and they have been dealing with Mercedes owners for almost 20 years. If you like them, go for it!

i know! they are knock-offs of carlsson 1/12 wheels. i'm sure a set with the correct offset could be found... they would look so perfect on a w126Originally Posted by nomad
