looking for the original W126 cell phone

I'm tired of looking at that sad empty phone cradle on my '91 300SE, so I'm hoping someone will want to give theirs up or point me towards one that's already been removed. I know it will probably never work; just want to get the visual right. Any help would be much appreciated.

Your car is not North American. It has the "tray" on the dash, passenger side.

What exactly do you want? An old 5 lb weight cell phone?

Just means it has a passenger airbag - available in NA in 1991.

The 'phones were a dealer or after market fit - never came from the factory with them, I would just ditch the damn space occupying lesion.

You are right. My sold 1986 560 SEL did not have a passenger side airbag so there was space for a traditional MB lockable fold down door storage bin. It was a second thought I am certain.

I have a Motorola cell phone that weighs a ton and purchased in the mid 1980s. They charged me $2,500 or so at the time and it looks like something the GIs used in the Vietnam War. The only good thing about it is that it can be used for self-defence at night. It doubles up as a plastic hammer.

I found that the iPod nano rests comfortably in the cradle so maybe I'll just use it for that and give up on the old phone. I've seen it in photos: it is a huge 5lb clunker with tons of buttons on top. Supposedly it hooked into the Becker so the radio would mute when a call came in, but I'm not sure.

I think mine is bigger, heavier and harder. It is encasted in a hard plastic shell. I accidentally dropped it on my foot once and boy! I thought my foot was run over by a truck!

If you wack a robber on the head with it he will not be standing for long.

Hum... Why on earth do you people want to keep all these old junk phones in your car! Take that out, cut the wires and get a new--nice cell phone (a RAZR--like me?) you ppl are weird.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the RAZR is an outdated phone with terrible reliability. Anything without HSDPA is last year.

Those cradle phones were dealer fitment like '420SE' noted so there shouldn't be a great need to retain it
The factory ones on the other hand would be neat to have

This is a scan of my 'Special Equipment' brochure from the mid-80's

Well i don't care.

I'm 13-- i'm a student, and i think having a razr is not too bad.

That's fine, don't speak negatively about someone else's choice unless you're prepaired to defend your own.

Damn D, those pics look great, love the second one with the bracket on the rear of the console.

I stand corrected that they were not available from the factory, sorry, I was not aware they were and have never seen an option code for them, but there you go!

I would love to see some of the other 'special options' from that brochure!

The rest of the items in the brochure aren't very special at all to be frank, just regular features that we all take for granted in our cars...the phone is probably the only thing of interest

It would be an options brochure from the 2nd-gen period that might have all the cool, ultra rare stuff like the driver/passenger partition, factory curtains, fridge, fax machine, trip computer, 10-speaker stereo and whatever else
