my car turns off for no reason!

i've recently parked my 420SEL for a month cause one of my belts snapped and i did have the time to put in a new one. Last weekend i took a couple hours to replace all my belts and get the car running again that same day i went 4 a drive and in the middle of the road the car just died! like it ran out of gas i pulled over and in 10 mins the car started with out a problem i though it was just a one time thing and continued driving the car over the next week but it happen again without warning.

Does anyone have any idea whats going on?!?! is my fuel pump dying?

i pulled out the relay and nothing looks wrong with it but its hard to tell by just looking at it is there any way to test it? one thing i realize the problem only ocurs right after starting the car some how fuel is temporarily cut to the engine then after a few moments the car runs perfect. i dont even have to force the car on i just wait and it turns on just fine what in the world is going on?

ok update, it seems like the more i try to figure out the problem the worse the problem gets. i'm seriously begining to think its the fuel pump because today when i turned the car on and it died before i tried turning the engine i let the car sit in the ON position with all the light luminated and i stepped out of the car. as i did so i heard a repeated "cherp" from the fuel pump which continued for a few minutes when usually it only makes that noise once. As if the engine was trying to draw fuel but was not getting enough

If you have a fuel pressure tester you can test the fuel pumps and delivery system.

guess what went to get my fuel pressure tested and the car wouldn't die so it can out perfect! lol but at least i know its the fuel pump that is acting up not anything else. Whats a fair price for a primary fuel pump?

Not sure since I have never had to replace one, but first you have to figure out which of the two pumps has failed.

Is it possible that it is the CPS?

Have you considered you may have a dead battery?

If you didn't route or tension the belt properly, you may not have spun the alternator enough to charge the battery.

i have subwoofers hooked up to my battery but would a dead battery cause the fuel pump to shut off? now that i think about it my car always dies when my music is turned up high! i'll get my battery tested if ur right THANK YOU! to replace the fuel pumps alone would have been $500 parts and labor

If you keep the cells topped up with distilled water and charge the battery when you change the oil, it will last for a very long time.
