Ahhhhh the joy of owning an SEC AGAIN! & CONVERTIBLE TOO!

A few years ago back I got very VERY fed up with my 560 SEC and sold it because ...... I was (am) retarted. Car needed a few minor things and I just got fed up. I was in desparate need for cash, and then ..... long story short I got sick of the car.

Shortly after, I got sick of not owning a SEC. Nothing else would "scratch that itch". Got few Caddys, got a gew Lincolns (the Mark VIII did come close), a GNX, and nothing satisfied me like the SEC could.

After many searches, all being way too high in mileage or all being extreemly high in price the Good Lord has finaly blessed me with another SEC. This time, a convertible one with a STACK of receipts and etc.

I was told that this is a very rare color (by the seller of course) and was only available in 1988 by special order, Desert Soemthing or Sand Something. Doesn't look like a stock color to me, but what do you guy think?

Where can I run the vin to find out exactly what color and options this car had, etc?

Got away for 5K. 102K miles, drove it from FL to NC driving it HARD (85+).

Has a decent oil leak. Cruise doesn't work. Linkage is off (will not start in park, only neutral, rolls in park gotta use the Ebrake). Minor probs.

I think she's a keeper.

Oh, definately need wheels.

Feels good to be in a W126 again. 20 year old car still turns heads.

Do you think this is an "original" or "rare" color for an 88?

Same thing here. I have a 1988 Signal Red 560SEC that has been sitting in my garage for a couple of years. The car is flawless on the outside but does need some work. Lots of mileage about 280k but the engine sound great. I have had a few offers and have been constantly nagged about having the car take up garage space but it is something about that body style and care that just won't let me get rid of it.

I have a 2003 S500 but the SEC gets a lot more stares whenever I do drive it.

Something Customs. The main company doing the convertibles in the 80's for MBZ. Got the receipt and book too.

Will post more photos after a nice detail.

It's got minor things wrong with it, like 0 to 35 is kind of rough then she just smooths out. All the receipts and never a tune up. Soemthing I should do before spending money on the detail.

I love your 500dry ( in my language sec means dry)

But may I ask to remove the wheels... They look too cheap imo for a classy car like yours)

Thanks, Everything works on the car but the arms that come up to hand you the seat belts. Got tired of them getting tangled up so I just disconnected them. Also, those wheels on the car are not the ones I normally use. They are cheap and used in the winter.

Ditch the chrome wheel arches too. Probably nice red paint under there that NEEDS to be set free....LOL I had a CA 380SE that had the arches from day one until day two in my possession. I removed tham and the paint was great under there. If you do remove them and there is paint/body degradation, fix it and put them back on...at least you tried to update the look. PS the Chrome Arches will collect water = Rust in time.
