560 SEC AMG model breakdown.

So, my 560 SEC had the AMG BODY package, but no engine.

Now, I have heard of the two other AMG cars tha thad special engines in them. 5.6 and 6.0. Can someone that knows please break it down for me the horsepower/torque figures and how to identify the AMG powered cars apart from other AMG body package vehciles.

Thanx!

There are 2 versions of of the AMG modified 5.6 and 6.0 engines.
5.6 with 4v dual cam heads makes 360 hp
5.6 2v AMG motor makes 320hp
6.0 4v makes 375-385hp depending on cat converter
6.0 2v makes 330 hp

There's a pic of my 6.0 with 4v heads on benzworld.com, do search, notice the huge valve covers stamped w/AMG. A 5.6 4v would look the same. The engine size is normally stamped on the valve covers. A 2v AMG motor is harder to identify but an AMG part number will be stamped on the driver's side of the block... You can see my part number in the picture. The 2v AMG motor will look the same as your factory motor. They just used different cams, headers and intake manifold. Larger pistons in the case of the 6.0.

Thanx for all the info. Do yo uhave a link to your car, I try to go to Benzworld.com but the site apparently has been moved or something. :| I'd love to check out your car.

What kind of engine do you think this car has?? He has the speedo hitting 300KM.

Here's the link....I don't have any finished pictures of my car yet. I should have some up in the next few weeks. Just finishing blacking out the trim on one side and the interior is still apart.
By the way that car you asked about- I would assume it to have another Euro 560 motor like your last one. The ad only mentions an AMG body kit and wheels, they would surely mention AMG tuned engine if it had one. The instrument cluster is probably one of those ebay aftermarket jobs. I've never seen a genuine AMG speedo in white.

My engine:

Your right. I talked to the guy and he says his a base Euro engine. Mint car though.

Is your car a regular 560 SEC with a 6.0 engine swap???

Yes, its actually a 500SEC with all 560 components. I found a wrecked 560SEC AMG 6.0 with 46K miles with only light damage to the sides, no front or rear impact. My cousin and I dismantled my 500SEC and the 560 and transplanted EVERY possible component, including all wiring, interior and engine components. I had the bumpers touched up and am in the process of finishing the interior. Everthing is in except the passenger seat, radio and speakers and some kickpanels. I will have some pictures in the near future.

There'sprobably less than 15 running examples in the U.S., so in a word, yes, they are hard to find!

2 many to drive in 1 day
Talking Amg

From what I was told by a Benz. pro that the 6.0 DOHC is not what you want , super big bucks to do the upkeep and tune ups on . Just not worth that , maybe more rare , but more also to do the upkeep . Mine is the 6.0 SOHC , 87 560sec AMG . DW

Depends who you talk to... some people have good luck, some don't. I know of a guy who has a 1987 6.0 DOHC widebody and races it in SCCA. 75K miles, most of them hard. He is just now experiencing some gasket leaks. Never had a engine related problem in all of his races. Besides, if the heads go you can put the SOHC heads back on and still have the 6.0 SOHC. The extra 45 horses (conservative) and higher redline are very enjoyable for the time being.
