1990 Mercedes Benz sl500 coolant temp 100 degrees Celsius
Hi there just picked up this 1990 Mercedes Benz sl500. It only has 49,000 original miles, just put in a new thermostat and fresh coolant. Along with a fresh oil change. It was a hot day but my coolant temp keeps going up to 100 degrees Celsius and stays there. Especially if I turn it off and on. Also my gas gauge just randomly quit working yesterday too am I going to need to have access to the fuel pump or behind the gauge cluster? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Fuel level sensor in fuel tank. Test it with Ohm meter. If open it is junk.
Coolant temperature.... This vintage of MB is from ‘The bad old days’ when radiators got plugged up due to silicates in coolant back then. There is no flushing that ick out. The radiator gets replaced. With A/C on the radiator fan should vary it’s speed to speed way up as coolant temperature climbs.
