Pls Help - Hydraulic Suspension Hose Leaking

Did a search but could not find the answer.

My 87 560 SEL has a leak in the high pressure hose (B1) off the hydraulic suspension pump. I'm trying to figure out if the hose can be replaced by snaking in the new one or lots of stuff (alternator, water pump, etc.) have top come off to provide room to work.

Does anyone know how is this done? Please help.

Thanks.

Cool The leak

Is it in the front or in the back where the shocks are at , there is a plastic cover in the back seat area once the back seat is out that you can remove to get to the line to the shock . not sure if that will help, mine is the 560sec type . If its up front , than yes you got your self some work , but can be fixed Im sure by you and not the big buck shop . DW

thanks for replying!

The hose is in the front. It seems like the hose runs behind and snakes under the main pulley and then up again. I have just ordered the hose so I am not sure if it's flexible enough to snake it in. Looks like the main pulleys and some other stuff gotta move out of the way for removal and installation. I was just hoping for an easier way.

Update. Pressure hose has been replaced along with the accumulators. It turned out that only the fan and the alternator needed to move out of the way. There was a lot of twisting and wiggling the hose around to get it in and out from behind the main pulley. Beside that, everything else was very straight forward.

DW, Parts alone from the MB dealer are almost $600 (Hose $200, 2 aumulators $360, Fluid $25). I saved a bunch by getting them online. . I don't know how many hours would the MB shop charge for intalling the hose and the accumulators but I am glad they did not get my hard earn money...
