New s500 20" rims or not?
I just got my dream car 1995 S500. This past weekend I put on Falken GR 255/35/20 all around. Also I put on Dolce dc-12 20" rims. It rides very smooth better than I thought. I have heard some horror stories yes not the same as stock but still ok. I get some vibration and little shaking at various times. My question, is this the best tire size for this size rims. I dont want the staggered look since I will lower it one day. Is there a big difference between 19s and 20s look and ride quality. I still have a few days if I want to switch out. I want the big rim look but also the best ride with 19s or 20s and want to get the right tires.
Thank you everyone

You didn't tell me the specs of your wheels.. so. This is what I'm going to do.
You said you didn't want staggered. So this is what I would do if I were in your situation.
I would go for the 20" wheels, they fit the wheel well better than 19's even though the ride will be rougher.
I would do 20x8.5 all around.
Depending on the rim, various tire sizes can fit.
I would run 255/35/20 though.
Since you are going to lower it though, you might be better off with 19's, plus it'll be easier pothole wise, and ride quality wise.
If you do 19" do this.
19x8.5 all around.
255/40/19 tires.
Hope that helps!

For visual difference it really depends on the wheels. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
For the ride difference, you can tell that there's an extra 50 or so millimeters worth of rubber to absorb anything on the road.
And your pictures are still showing up as red x's.

Can someone post a pix of their S500 on 19s so I can compare. I need to make a decision fast as to keep what I got or not.

Well I am going to keep what I have but I was wandering if I can go bigger on the tires? Also why would you want to go staggered? Is there a rider benefit? Right now I am 20x8.5 all around.

Personally I think a staggered setup looks wicked as hell, but if you already have wheels, I'd keep them. I think the wheels you have are perfect for a VIP look. Just get a slight drop.
Don't go bigger tires, it's too risky, unless you know of a shop that knows what they are doing.

Shop or no-shop. Unless you're going to modify the wheel flares, bigger tires will cause you pain in the wallet. I've looked at your pic, your car looks just like mine. The difference is that, I'm totally blacked-out with 20% tint, 17 x 8" 5-Spoke Monoblocks, Clear Turn-Signals, S600 Grill, and Blinking Mirror Covers.
Your ride looks good though, but the bigger tire thing...I'd give that one some serious serious thought! Remember, it's a Mercedes...She still needs to look like one. Bigger tires may cause it to look like an SUV wannabe.

I'm going through the same problem picking out new wheels. I think I may stick the 19s we'll see.

if u go with 19 then 255/40/19 all around ,currently i run 255/40/19 in front and 285/35/19 in rear the front is lower than the rear significantly and i also have h&r springs, so i might change the rear to 255/40/19 ,maybe that can solve the problem,if 20 then 255/35/20 all around ps i am currently looking to get these in 20's and will be selling my 19inch with almost new tires
