93 5-Speed 300SE Rear Window Issues

93 5-Speed 300SE Rear Window Issues
Hello,
We have has a 300SE in the family and are having some issues with the rear windows. There is a problem where the window will not go up or down and when driving, slides down and opens from hitting bumps in the road.
This issue has been fixed at least twice per side at the local MB dealer.
Im not sure what part exactly was replaced (will find out) but do know that its been the same fix each time. The windows work fine for a few months and then it happens all over again.
Is this something that is common on a lot of W140's? Maybe just early ones?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
- Being a 5-Speed, i know there are not many. Does anyone have any info on how many were made or what years they were produced?

Window regulators are common to failure due mostly to the double glazing on windows i.e. heavy windows. Other issues can effect life of regulators other than weight, other issues may be present. Also as a little tid bit, try to allow the windows to roll up using the "one touch" method, rather than continually pressing on the window switch repeatedly to roll up windows.
The 300SE, 400SE, 500SE and 600SE were sold only for 1 year in 1992, in 1993 the badging was changed to reflect a commonality and as such became the S420, S500 and S600. Actually the 400SE is really a 4.2.

1991 300sl 5 speed manual
I dont know how rare a 5speed it but I have two interesting cars that are related to this thread.
1. I have a 91 300sl manual Transmission Dogleg left Getrag tranny. I have been told that they only brought 160 of these into the states.
2. I have a 1994 300se( which dispells the theory that they were 91 threw93) It has the very rare Executive Seats that are Power Lumbar and reclining. I have attached a picture.
Side note if your ever interested in selling your 5 speed 140 let me know I have cash. JJ

Im sure it will be sold sooner or later. Unfortunately this is not a US car. Im visiting my family in quito, ecuador and this is where the car is. It is most likely the same tranny your SL has (dogleg getrag). Which by the way, looks very nice.
I see by your signature that it is for sale. What are you looking to get for it? And how many miles does it have?

1992-1993 300se Only
Sorry, no 300SE for 1994. Please see link. 300SE made and sold in 1992-1993, I know this for a fact, been working as a mechanic at Barrier Mercedes Dealership for 20 years. the 1992-1993 300SE was rebadged in 1994 as S320. If your W140 is a short body it is a 300SE, if not you have the long body S320. Look up your vin number. Nobody is the world has a 1994 300SE, they did not exist.

1993 300SEL/S320
Have you put your VIN into the Russian site to see the production date? Sometimes cars are registered as a different year from their production year as per when they arrived in the country they were sold in.
