aftermarket stereo??

Hello, im thinking of putting in an aftermarket stereo, and need some info..

1) does the aftermarket stereo need a mounting kit, or will it slide right into the factory opening?
and
2) will an aftermarket stereo work with the factory bose system? i know there can be an issue with the amp or somthing like that?

thanks a lot

Mike

in my C36

i just swapped out the headunit, it will slide right in, believe it or not, but the headunit has an internal amp as well, it powers the front speakers, and the amp in the back powers the rears and the stocks subs in the rear deck. just get a wiring harness and crimp wires do not cut em completely off u will blow fuses. ur stock speakers will sound LOTS better with a new headunit, trust me, my setup soundd soo nice i left it stock, but added a shallow pioneer in the trunk, and where the medical kit goes i placed a alpine m605 i'm getting about 600RMS from it but the sub can only take 400 of course the amp is turned down tho. it soounds awesome! good luck! plus wiring for you will be easy, cuz the battery is in the trunk, and don't bother running the remote to the headunit, just run it from the stock amp in the trunk.

trust me

i know you all want to pull out the stock speakers and all, but trust me, it's more trouble that it's worth, the bose speakers in your car run about 1500 for the whole setup. you have good speakers, but your headunits sucks A$$.
change the headunit first then crank it. i'm sure you'll like it. the tweeters are really crisp! i know that from my car, it's all stock as well. add a new headunit, add subs if you like and an amp, you will be set! you may have to use the wiring harness for a volkswagen or bmw, cuz they don't sell em for mercedes! but it's the same harness! they juss don't have them for "mercedes" i know it's confusing. and when your wiuring the deck, MAKE SURE YOU SWTCH THE RED AND YELLOW! or else you will not get continuious power the the deck and it will reset everytime the car turns off!

If you go with a brand like balphunkt or even Alpine I know you can in most cases just plug the headunit straight into the exsisting wiring looms.

thats

right, when u install the deck make sure u make the mounting brackets that slides over the deck when you install this, bend up the teeth, in every spot, so if theives try to break in and pull it out, they better bring a crow bar my ol deck was a *****! to get out, and that's the way it was setup, i did the same with my new deck

You can get the harness from here and just match the colors from your JVC to this one. This one will fit your Avx-33 and your s-class factory harness.

Good luck.

S class needs a harness adaptor kit . Most of the retailers they don't have . You have to use harness kit from 1997 VW Passat . It works for my 1997 S 500 .I don;t know about olders models. Just plug and play. If any one needs more info e-mail me at vassilis@nyc.rr.com

I dunno about your Bose system but on my 600 the speakers are low impedance ( 2 ohms ) and the require a lil more power to control than you standard 4 ohm speaker.
Im going through the same thing in my SEL and i came to the conclusion that if i want clearer sound and crisper imaging i will have to dump the whole factory system and start from scratch.
Will be running Morel Elate 5 in the Front and Elate 9 in the rear powered by Zapco DC Reference 1000.4
For low end fill i will be using a Morel Ultimo 12 sub powered by a Zapco DC Reference 1100.1
Also for easy tuning and changing EQ settings on the fly will be using a Zapco DRC-SL that will allow me to change settings
As for the head unit i will be using Kenwood Excelon KVT-819DVD and add on the bluetooth and navigation unit with the additional XM and Nav Trafic receiver.
Estimated total is around $8000Can ( added in $500 for wiring and extras such as dynamat )

I'm not sure why this seems so complicated.

I have 2 W140 S600 cars, a 1995 and a 1998.

In one I fitted a Pioneer AVIC unit with seperate DAB tuner, ipod link, cd changer and dvd changer. works a treat with the Bose amp and speakers.

In the other I fitted a Becker integrated head unit with GPS. Againm no problems and works well.

Changing out the bose system is the next step but I may not go that far.

Yes it can be done cheaper, but I'm going the route of SQ.
the factory Bose amps can be integrated with the use of an adapter from Metra or PIE but that is just to my ears.

But for my ears the bose system its just not cutting it.
this way i have full control, time alignment, crossover and EQ's built into the amp for every separate channel for fine tuning the system and remove reverberations out of the car, while maintaining full functionality...
NAV, Rear Seat Entertainment, XM Radio, Reverse Camera, IPod control, USB input for Jump Drives and the list goes on.

Smile Start with this Loom

Just notice you have a 99 series get this Harness instead .
www.installer.com ////Part 70-1786/////
http://www.installer.com/item/displa...php?it=70-1786
Moree info is at www.benzworld.org
For 91/93 W140s start with this Harness ,it will save you from cutting your inside dash Wires it is for Mexico 2000 /1435 , the Becker specialist told me that you should'ent need any additional extras maybe some resistors for Volume sensitive but that depends on the radio, it has all the conections as Females ,your in Car are the Male conectors .

Note" it is not a do it your self install loom , it willl make it a lot easier for the installer, thats all and you save your original Cabels ...
The Loom is available here """
