1993 300se won't start

I have a 93 300se. The engine turns over but won't start. It has become gradually longer to start, now it doesn't at all. Ive changed fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, distributor cap and rotor. I didn't see a spark when I did an inline spark tester. I smell no gas. It doesn't even sputter when I spray starter fluid in it. New wire harness 1 year old. Any ideas ?

The battery is bad. I have to jump it to get it to get the engine to crank but it doesn't hold a charge for long. I also used a good battery testing it and the same result.
Not sure on the condition of the plugs. The car ran very smooth when it did start so I didn't think that was the issue. My concern is that i don't even smell gas. Would the crank position sensor be responsible for both no spark and no gas ?

You should heat the fuel pump(s) running when they key is turned on, they are controlled by a relay, but will only run to pressurize the system if it does not start.

One more thing... Is it the CRANKshaft sensor or CAMshaft sensor that could be the problem? Any idea what the difference is, besides the price ?

GUESS WHAT...SHE STARTED !!!!

Well after 6 months of guesswork and buying parts I don't need my problem is SOLVED. All i needed was a new IGNITION COIL !
Went to see Sam at Advanced Auto Sports in Farmington Hills, MI. He was highly recommended by others and figured this thing out in no time. It's good to find a fair mechanic thats really looks out. Can't say enough about how much I appreciated that and getting back on the road. Time to get her all cleaned up. I'm back in the game. YEAH !!!!

Thanks for all your advise too. I helped to understand the cause and effect of it all. Much appreciated. GO TEAM !!!
