what are the most common problems on a w140

I'm a new w140 owner and I would like to know what are the most common problems that arise especially when driven in hot temperature areas.

On Most MBs reverse is first to go out. you may need a rebuild however there are springs and things I would check first.Try www.benzworld.org the w140 section

Heater Tee - Part No.?

If I was to order myself a heater tee for the M104 in my '95 S320, what part number would I use - I see there is a tee (thermal valve) going to the air collector unit (that breathes from the hood vents above), and another connection directly through the fire wall...made by BEHR.

I have the older CLK(a208) convertible and a S500(c140) coupe. The CLK is more sporty to drive on twisty roads and to manage in tight places for parking (smaller and lighter weight), while the S500 is a great cruiser, really quiet with more than enough power to make you smile. I have found the S500 to be less costly for maintenance and more reliable, but you can't put a price on top down crusing!!! Both cars are fun but you need to budget for maintenance as you are looking at 10 - 15 year old Mercedes and things will break on any car with that age, but the cost shouldn't be extreme if you buy a well maintained model and you have a proper inspection conducted before you buy.

yes for the w140s up to 96,were headgasket, and engine wiring bad.My 99,has never had a headgasket problem on the m104 engine. The v8s I heard you have to watch for the cam oilers to break up.I would look for the metal replacements.I suggest running mobil one syntheic ATF.my w1216 diesel I use a mix of syntheic ATF,and conventional ATF.I buy the Coastal Brand.
