Immobilizer and Starting Issue - '99 S320
Hello all! I have purchased a non-running 1999 S320 with 177k miles (don't hate, please) in a non-running condition. The owner said the immobilizer was the issue and I tend to agree because the prongs on the black connector were "wonky"
I went to the salvage yard, and got an ECU, immobilizer, and the key ring from the ignition switch that connects to the immobilizer... from another S320 (1997 I believe). I sent the immobilizer and key to get programmed so that they sync. The guy provided a new key that matches the immobilizer and cut it so that it works in the ignition and door locks.
I've put the ECU, immobilizer and key ring thing into the car, and I'm still getting the Start Error message. But what's now happening is the alarm is going off (flashing lights).
Any idea on what happened? Why won't the car now start? I really appreciate the help with this one. I'm trying to keep these old W140's on the road (I have an S500 that I love) but this one has me baffled.
Thanks!!
I've run a CarSoft 7.4 scan on the car and received the following error messages:
ME – 1570 - CAN between IFZ and ME control unit (Engine 120: right)
ABS / ASR – Airbag – SRS Malfunction Indicator Lamp (A1e15)
