The "B" on my '93 500sel gearbox?

In my '93 500sel, there is a "B" in the gearbox, what does it do? I didn't want to click it in and risk jeopordizing my car, what could it mean?

BUMP.

What the hell is this B in the gearbox for?? It's bothering me quite a bit. I recently had my transmission rebuilt, and I don't want to do something I'm going to regret, so before I click it into that B, I'd like to know what it does.

Oh so, its nothing special, like I thought it allowed me to drive in a tiptronic/manual way, but it doesnt look that way for some reason. I mean I can always just go from B to 2 to 3 to D (drive) .

Where did you get your transmission rebuilt and how much did they charge you to do it?

bergwerks has a first gear start kit for your car so your tranny naturally starts in first gear.

I got mine rebuilt in Long Island, NY. I bought the car knowing it had a less then perfect tranny, so my dealer already set up an appointment for me, so I just went straight there. I forget who the mechanic is off the top of my head, its been 4 to 5 years since the day.
