SCOOP: 2012 Lexus Revealed

Now that we know what the 2007 Mercedes S Class looks like, it means we also know what the 2012 Lexus LS will look like.

Actually, from that angle the MB looks like a Lexus does now.

If you want to know what the 2006 MB will look like look at the Lexus!

It looks like it's been Bangled there's obviously influences from Lexus but IMOP there's also overwhelming styling cues from BMW, What a waste....It could've been so much more....

"it looks like the LS430."

i don't see even one bit that looks like the LS430. after all, the LS430 is an almost complete copy of the previous S-class (W140). except for the fender flares (which bring to mind Ford) i cannot see anything that doesn't scream Mercedes.

"It looks like it's been Bangled"

such as? no flame surfacing anywhere in evidence in this picture.
portruding boot lid, yes, but not ugly and in-your-face like the Bangle's. so, what is it that makes it Bangled?

Well definitely the trunk lid, tail lights, and the shorter looking wheel base, screems BangleVISION

My wife doesn't see difference between Lexus and Mercedes too. I think it's common for women.

shorter wheelbase has always been a merc feature: in europe (and some other places) they've always been two wheelbases for the S-class anyway.

trunklid and tail-lights come straight from maybach, my friend. not from BMW. if you say it comes from BMW, why not say it comes from Volvo instead? since they have had a raised trunk for so long. the only reason BMW's efforts got noticed was because they were so ugly

haha, it's true, many people can't tell the difference between different cars. that's why they're not enthusiast =) my mum can't tell the difference between a Honda City and an E-class!! or between the W140 and W211. which are hugely, hugely different cars IMHO

Given the fact that many here think that the Lexus looks like an MB inability to detect subtle differences may be an affliction that some men have here as well.

It works both ways, you know.

What are you talking about?? The Bangled rear end, and tail lights 1st surfaced on the BMW's, the Maybach designs came shortly after obviously borrowing from BMW, get it straight before you start preaching on a soap box pal....

THIS car came way before BMW: note raised trunk lid (S60)
http://www.volvocars.com/Showroom/S60/

and this as well (even clearer): (S80)
http://www.volvocars.com/Showroom/S80/

which was my point.

and are you saying this (Maybach rear)
http://www.maybach.ru/outside/index_en.php?ind=4

copied this? (7-series rear)
http://www.maybach.ru/bmw7_e65/index_en.php?ind=1

i'm not sure what you're seeing, but i guess to each his own. if you insist... but my eyes see it very differently

I'm not a Volvo fan and barely pay attention to them, and yes in my eyes the bangled BMW rear and Maybach look similar.....There not exact but definitely similar...And equally silly looking....

2000 Lexus LS400
May I say that is one ugly vehicle Mercedes is putting out? I personally don't think it looks anything like our Ls's. And why would Lexus follow in Mercedes footsteps. I don't see any simularities. But The German cars are beginning to look more Japanese. I love Mercedes but that's not a real nice one there.

Actually I have seen the Maybach in real life, I live in Santa Barbara, Ca.. You'd be surprised how many celebrities, and millionaires call this city home..
And my comment is targeted at how the trunk design emulates the BMW design so much, Mercedes, Maybach, flat out copied it I don't care for it a bit...It's a snuby little trunk, w/odd mating of sheet metal, lacking w220 free flowing design concepts...
PS..Could you please post some pic's of your 04' S55 sounds like a good looking car

i hear what your saying, but i wonder when the maybach was designed. i think it was before the 7 was unvailed. and yes it has a raised trunk, but nothing like the bmw and much nicer.

ps. ill take pics once its back from the dealer. i bent a rim from a pothole, and it was so bad that the air came out as i was going out of the pothole (the tire is fine). and to make things worse at 4am the lugs from my rims dont fit the spare and the dealer never gave me lugs for the spare. so it got towed to the dealer and surprise surprise they are backed up and very busy so ill be picking i up soon.

I look forward to seeing those pics, not many people on here w/LM6 20"'s
on a S55 I've been waiting for quite some time to get rid of my D93's and move on to something I really like...I think I'm leaning towards Lowenharts, or maybe an application from CCW....Wheels in my mind are kinda personal like tattoos, Your going to have them for a while so you better get something good!
