Arrow Need help! have 19" rims and they scrub

I have a 2001 S500 sport with 245/40/R19 on the front and 275/35/R19 on the back and evrytime i hit a dip the car compresses down and scrubs the tires. But the tires do not rub when turning, anyone know why and what i can do? The car has never been lowered and has the airmatic suspension

your offset is wrong on the wheels. sell these and get another set with 38-45 offset.

Cool

You should not have any problem with that setup..I ran that same setup before I did a 20 setup..and had no problem but here is what you can do..... If not,, the offset is whacked... What is your offset ?

Here is some info from one of my other posts

1st.. Did you have the fenders rolled ?
2nd..And most important, There is a about 3 inch section inside the out rear fender well that needs to grinded down ..It is at the top outside corner of the well.... You cannot see it without taken the tire off.... Most wheel shops will Roll the fender but not grind that part off... You have to find a motoring or tuner shop to do it..alot of CL and S class run as I do a 275/30/20 10 inch rim
245/35/20 9 inch rim

Call around locally and if they do not know right away what your talking about hang up and call someone who has done it many times..If your in Socal I can refer you.

Wow I thought that size wheel should have no issues with rubbing on a S-class. Probably have to roll your fenders.

The size wheel won't rub, s0viet is probably right about the offsets being incorrect.

does that mean the offset can be between 38 and 45 or is it 38 on the front and 45 on the rear?

Offset

I run a 38 rear and a 37 front.... The rear should be between 38 - 42..

I have the same problem on my S-Class after installing 19 inch Brabus Mono VI wheels. Although mine only rub when I hit a pretty good size dip...(like the one on the 52 E and W by Convoy Street, since you are form San Diego you probably have that same problem). I just slow down a bit and put the shocks in sport mode. So far I haven't had enough problems with the wheels rubbing where I would need to have my fenders rolled or grinded.
