Just got carjacked by two thugs
My question is: Does my 2000 S430 have some sort of GPS chip or something that could help locate the car? The cop asked if I had Onstar and I said no. Any help or advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Your car has TeleAid which is Mercedes' version of OnStar. I know you have to sign up to use some of it's services but I'm not sure whether or not the GPS tracking is one of those services.

What were they armed with?
I'm in MD.... where did this happen?
This has been a bad week on the forum. 1st Velociti gets rammed and smashed and now you have guns in your face.

In addition, if they got your cell phone (if it was in the car) you may be able to track it as well - and either nail the thieves or find your car, if the phone is still with it. That would require a GPS-enabled phone, and you'd have had to enable the GPS tracking feature.
I just moved to Arlington, VA from a very nice Baltimore neighborhood that is about 5 minutes from where you were carjacked (Milford, at Liberty Road just inside and adjacent to the Beltway - not Milford Mill, which confuses folks sometimes). Very disturbing.
Good luck; hope the car is recovered OK.

It's good that you and your sweety were not hurt. Count your blessings. Life beats a pine box.
Glad you're safe. This makes it a funny - ironic story now.

Here's the update:
I called MBUSA last night around 2am and subcribed to the TeleAid service, and by 4am I received a call back from them telling me my car had been located somewhere in the inner city. The Baltimore City police was contacted by MB and then car was towed to the impound lot. A cop stopped by my home an hour ago to follow up and he informed me that the ignition had been popped, and he said he assumed that it meant that the car was stolen from the thugs who stole it from me, all in the same night. He had no more details regarding any damage to the car, and I'll have to wait until the Baltimore County police dept gets the car tomorrow, since the crime occurred in Baltimore County. They need to process the car through the crime lab etc before I can see it.
The insurance company has processed the claim and will followup tomorrow as well. To be honest, this whole episode has me thinking about getting rid of the car and getting something else...maybe a 2001 740iL...I dunno... I just feel like it won't be the same again whenever I drive the car...
Not sure that it will help...maybe after 2 years of owning the S, I'm ready to push something different...as I said, I'm just thinking out loud right now...rambling, I guess.
