AUX Input...

I have a 2003 S500... I keep hearing about AUX, but can't find anything in the manual for it...

How do I use the AUX Input on the COMAND and where is the actual input? Pictures would be nice.

Open your glove compartment and look for an aux jack. If you dont see one, then you will have to buy the cable from MB and have it installed. Part is cheap but labor is an hours pay.

My understanding is that if there is no jack in the glove compartment, then aux input is unavailable. If there is no aux button on command, how would you access the aux device?

If there is no aux input in the glove box, you have to purchase the harness from mb and once installed they have to activate the mode for you. On your command, the aux is the blank button that has no function.

Okay, thanks. I found the jack, plugged in my iPod...

The only thing is, it's kind of annoying to get to the AUX input mode... the blank button on the COMAND unit does nothing for me.

To get to AUX mode, I go to SVC -> System Settings -> AUX

On your next trip to the stealer, have them activate that blank button for aux.

I know... I've been there 2 times already since I got the car. I don't mind it, they are all really nice to me there (Especially a 19 year old with an S-Class)... all the girls at the service counter want to ride ride ra-ra-ra-ride.

But... I hate going there because I am under 21, so they can't give me a loaner, so they have some guy drive me home and then I have to get a ride there after work, it's just a pain in the ***.

Nope... you have to have a friend sitting in the passenger seat controlling it for you.

Actually, you can purchase a Dension Mercedes Ipod control unit that enables you to control the ipod via steering controls. Do a search online for this piece.

To Recap What all is needed?

OK, if you'll let me be a little lazy to get all of this in one thread, , are all of the below needed for steering wheel control:

1. MB control harness from command to glove box for aux input
2. command code change a MB dealership to progam blank command button
AND
3. the denison harness to contol through steering wheel

Lastly,

with all of the above is there information i.e. playlists, artists, on the command screen?

Does no. 3 take the place of no. 1 above?

TIA
