I have a 2000 S430. The navigation works fine, BUT I got a set of NEW version CDs and they do not work. The dealer and MB HQ says there is no way to upgrade the system or the software so they will work. Does anyone know of a way? Thanks.

I am not sure I understand the problem. MB issues a new CD or CD's approx. once per year with updated information. Once that CD is inserted, the software should update and the new navigation information is available. The only reason I can think that CD's would not work is if they were not for the S-Class. I believe different MB models have different disks depending on the command unit.

Achez is correct. The new CD should work fine as long as it is for you particular model. Can you tell us what the date revision and the part # are ? Then I would be able to tell you if you have the correct CD. Also, there is the possibility that the CD they gave you is bad.

The discs are new. They have an S-Class pictured. They are NsavTech On Board copyright 2001. Bosch Rel. 7/01 part number Q6 46 0085 through Q6 46 0095. Any info??? By the way, the old CD that works fine is NavTech Bosch release 8/99 Q6 46 0033 copyright 1999...

I don't know what the problem is. Is there a year 2000 disk? I wonder if you cannot skip an upgrade before going to the next one. Also, it could be possible the CD is bad. Where did you get the new CD's? Are they directly from MB?

There are year 2000 Discs, however, I doubt that is the problem. Have your tried inserting other Discs from the series ?

I'm looking at my Discs. I only have 3 of them however they are as listed:

Region 1 - Rel 7/00 Q6460053
Region 2 - Rel 7/00 Q6460054
Region 8 - Rel 7/01 Q6460092

What exctly happens when your system stops working ?

The message when I put in ANY of the 10 CDs is..."CD reading error. Please change CD." The serial numbers and dates are listed in my posting above.

I just bought a used S430 and it doesnt have the navigation CD, so i bought a new CD 2001 on ebay and it doesnt work. I said reading error , I think I need the old CD that compatible with my command unit. I think NavTech Bosch release 8/99 Q6 46 0033 copyright 1999 might work. If any have one I will to pay. You ordered the wrong disc set. The early 2000 models use C version nav system. You probably ordered discs that go with the D version nav system which will not work on the C system.

Here in the U.K. we have none DX systems on 1999/2000 model cars and DX type systems on 2000/2002 model cars and they are not interchangeble. Is it possible as Kenstudios says that you have a similar problem in the U.S.with 2000 model cars

I myself had a similar problem.
I wanted to have newer cd's for navigation (I had only the maps for year 2001 Benelux)
I tried the newest ones from a fellow benz-owner and they did not work.
The programm started updating alright, but it came back with a message that displayed there was no navigation CD available.
I tried his previous year disc (2005) and it worked immediately as it should.

So I am using that one right now. Wondering what caused the problem I thought it might be a problem with the distance between laserdiode and cd-surface. This because my player sometimes refuses to eject the cd in a normal way. When I have some spare time left I will build out the command system and see if I can get to the cd players hardware to see if that works correct.

By the way, I wish every one a very good 2007 with a lot of health for yourself and relatives. (and just follow the star to get you to 2008)

I don't have the part numbers for the latest update for C nav; however, if that is what you have, Wolfgang's ML page indicates that the latest North American update for "C" nav for the '00 S-Class is 2004-1. See http://www.whnet.com/4x4/radios.html I don't know how current that information is.

You should be able to get later updates for "D" nav. New North American releases are usually during the first quarter.
