Instrument Cluster Humming
Hey guys... my gauges are produce a humming sound when they are lit up full power (in sun light)... it's not like CRAZY loud, but I can notice it when the A/C and the COMAND are off or muted.
When it's night time and it's dim, you can't hear it at all...
Question is... is this normal or is going to die on me soon?

The recall is starting soon, so no worries.

I have a MY2003 S500... I don't think I qualify for the recall.

Our instrument clusters are being recalled. You will probably get a letter this month. Here is a copy of the DOT letter: http://199.79.180.162/prepos/files/A...6V028-9264.PDF

Hi there, is it a humming like a bee or more of a high-pitched tweak kinda hum? Our car had the high-pitched kind and it was even worse when we rode over bumps. It turned out to be a fan motor in the fuse box which we also mistook for the intrument panel. It was an easy fix.

I know it's coming from the gauges... and like I said, they have to on full-brightness during the day for a good 15 minutes for the hum to come in... if I drive under a bridge or dim the cluster manually, the buzzing goes away, but comes back as soon as they come back to full power.
If I let the car sit for about 20 minutes and start driving again, once I drive for 15 minutes the gauges will "warm up" and the sound returns.
I also noticed something else... maybe you guys can see it too, it takes a good eye. My Fuel, Coolant and Tachometer gauges are slightly brighter than the speedometer... any one have the same thing?

Well in any case... I am going to the dealer on Tuesday because I bought those Akebo (sp?) brake pads that you guys have been raving about... I am having the dealer put them on for me.
They are also changing my pollen filters and I am having them rotate and rebalance all the tires because I am still getting the slight vibrations between 60MPH and 75MPH... The ride is butter smooth up to 60MPH and the butter smooth after 75MPH... driving me insane.
I don't know if I want to even bring it up, but some times when the car first starts and it sits in idle, it will jiggle a little bit side to side every once in a while.
MAF?
Oh yeah, if you need to know, ~56K miles.
