Good Question....I know I have seen them in W220 in Europe but does it also work in the US? I would love to get a remote b/c I ride in the back alot.

The remote is used to control the tv tuner and not command. Tv tuner is found in Euro command and not US which might explain why you saw it in Euro model.

Smile US remote

This is not true.

There is a US version of the remote. I have it for my 2004 S430 and ordered it through Mercedes Manhattan's parts department. Works everthing including the SAT radio (Has a SAT button). The part number is A220 820 99 89 and the description in the parts database is "PARASITIC STOPPER" The name doesn't match the part, but what's in the box is the right thing. Works every function from the back seat including the display buttons. Has a nifty wheel in the middle of the remote that lets you display and select them.

Remote Control

It's infrared meaning you have to point it at the head unit. I think it was around $180, but its the same quality as the head unit. Much nicer than your average remote control. Has the same control button.

Don't know if it works in all years but I think it will. The dealer tried it out and it worked in everything in the shop except the SLR. Cetainly all 220's are Sieman's head units so I imagine it would.

The European part #: 220 820 99 89 the US version is 220 827 00 42.

I asked the local dealer for a quote on it here in the US and was told $316.82 plus tax.

Remote Control

I bought mine about a year ago. I'm still digging up the receipt to make sure, but the price you were quoted seems way too high. I did open up the back of mine and verified that the part number for the US version is 220 827 00 42. The US and European units are the same functionally. The only difference is that the US version has SAT vs Video printed on the one button
