2000 S 500 for 25K good deal?
I have a chance from my local neighbor to pick up a white 500 with 27,000
miles for around $25K. Is this a real good deal? No warranty

my dad is looking at a 2001 S430, 74K miles, Dessert silver, options: heated seats and CD changer. It is a one owner local car in mint condition. Comes with 4 year unlimited mile warranty for $28K. what about this deal?

Look, its a 7 yr old car that can be VERY expensive to maintain.
Who knows, get it checked, and offer 20K, i tell you one thing, even tho, this is an MB forum and ppl tend to be biased, most honest ppl in here will tell you they love the cars BUT look out when out of wtty.
By the way, and please dont cringe too much, but take a look at a Chrysler 300C, my Dad just got the Heritage edition of this car for $33K.It is a hell of a lot of car for the money, and altho, its not an S class, it will do most of what that car will do, with a full wtty, for not much more than you are looking to spend on a 7 year old car.
One other point, even if this car does have a genuine super low mileage it may still need as much maintenance as a typical mileage car, much of the stuff wears thru age and in some cases high mileage on a well maintained car may be better.

I'm not sure if it was model year 00 or 01 that the issue with the transmissions becoming "contaminated" due to the faulty radiators - look into that.I think it was with cars with the Valeo (?) radiators.
