What price and miles on it ? Please consider the S500, The prices are pretty close and you will appreciate the xtra horsies. I just have some K&N air filters on mine and I think it is pretty fast for a big car. The S430 is kind of a dog due to the weight of the car.( I have a driven a few of my friends S430's) no offense to any S430 owners. The S430 is a great car still ! just my .02

The 430 is slow. The 500 is much better, but still, average.

Go S55.

I totally agree w/ benz..! You'll be happier w/ the 500 and it should not cost much, if any, more. What is miles and price, and have you

1) run a carfax on it?

2) checked the VIN?

3) received a copy of all service records? and

4) talked w/ a dealer about a pre-sale inspection?

Just a few things to think about...

I've driven the S430, owned a 1989 560SEL, 1998 E430, 2000 S500, 2002 E55, 2006 CLS55 and now the 2001 S55 and I have to agree that S55 is the way to go! Of course if you do not have the resources for an S55 then go for the S500 because the price difference between the S430 and the S500 is minimal and you will appreciate the extra horses...(My next AMG will be the 2006 S65.) Remember to take your time and do your homework thoroughly before you buy like JAYHAWK suggested, and take advantage of this great forum and post anything questionable because we've got lots of sharp and talented Individuals on this Forum that can help you to make the right decision on which S class to purchase...Either S class you get I know you will absolutely enjoy it! Good luck my Friend!

2002 S430
I wanted a 2002 s500 4matic but settled for a 2002 s430.

It was a Chauffeur driven car and only has 32,000 miles Tektite (charcoal) with black interior.

No scratches. I got it MB Certified with the extended 100,000 three year.

All for a very good price of 37,000. Plus they gave me 9,000 for my E320 (1999) with 122,000 miles on it.

In three years I will get a 2007 s5?? 4matic.

It looks nice next to my black 1996 Range Rover.
