Just picked up an '03 S600
The car has stock size tires, 245-18s.
Good amount of tread left (these are not the original Michelin's).
Simply not enough tire with this much weight and torque.
How much tire can I run w/o rubbing?
Any recc's on brands that are esp. good on wet roads?
TIA.
I'll post some pics tomorow.
Staggered is a thought, though more costly since I can't rotate them. I had 245/275 18's on my E55. They were Goodyear F1's, so useless in the winter, but great on wet roads. Very costly tire. I ran some Kumho's on my BMW M3 and was quite pleased. Cheaper tire and were great quality.
I live in MN, so may have to resort to a summer/winter setup.
I've never run Kumhos before but I was convinced by some local younger guys with some real quick "Ricer" rides that swear by them ....so far so good.
Car doesn't have one mark, except the pass front rim has a few curb scuffs and as you can see it's missing the lower cladding jack cover.
Thinking about some new rims if I get wider tires. (??)

Yep. It's at the stealer now, I want them to take care of some loose rear window trim. Warranty should take care of it.
Anyhow, the piece will most likely have to be painted to match the car. Not 100% on that yet.

I'm looking into Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, 285/40YR17's for the rear. However, they run $334 each at TireRack! So I would not want to buy a dedicated winter tire. I've read these are decent enough to handle Minnesota winters.

40k miles. Still thinking about rims. Maybe I'll keep it stock, except wider tires and rebadge "S430". A real sleeper...
