S500- can it handle rain & snow?

I live in upstate NY and it rains quite a bit during the spring and fall season. During the winter theres snow on the ground about 8weeks out of the year and with RWD on the S-class I am wondering if it can handle the weather without worry about daily accidents? Any experiences or input?

Thanks fellas,
~J

That's a silly question, its a mercedes, not only that, its an S class, a car that for the past 30 years has been introducing new technologies. (ABS brakes for instance were first implemented on a s class) You can count on the car's systems (such as Brake Assist System, Electronic Stability Program) to 'catch' you in an event of loss of grip.

A) There are about 1 million of these S-Class all over the world.

B) They contribute to global warming.

C) The snow and ice problem will decrease over time.

forgive my ignorance...but it is the land of the quattro's up here and its hard to tell how a rwd flagship will handle the conditions despite of all its technologies.

You should look for a 4matic.

We have a friend that lives in Maryland with an S430. We have a neighbor with an S500 and another with an S550. You'll be fine. Go for a 4MATIC if you still aren't sure.

Wondering if you ended up taking your RWD out in the winters? I'm debating if I should winter drive my S55 or sell it and get something AWD..

tires are the most important part

get winter tires and you’ll be fine

keep high performance summer tires on and it will be dangerous

just got michelin winter tires put on. the only concern is that im moving a little bit north. plus my street is sloped and wondering if I'll be able to make it up the steep slope if icy / heavy snow.
Guess ill test it out!
