2002 S500 black/java/2011 Escalade (wifes)
key

cane anyone tell me how much I should be paying for a ney key for my 02 S500? I've got from $75-$250 for the keys also is it possible to get the new type of keys for this car I have the plain black one that came withe the car but I've noticed that there are the ones that have a chrome/silver edge.

You sure have a lot of questions about that new car... I'm not sure about the key, but I have heard you need to be careful because many will not work. And I believe I've heard that none will work unless the dealer activates it for you.

You need to go to the dealer with your registration papers, they will order a new one, takes about 3-4 days, Yes you will get the smaller new kind for about $120. I had to get a new one about 5 months ago

i have the big key and its starting to go bad!! but i like the original size of the s class key because its bigger and when u put it next to other keys u know there something differnt about it!!! im going to keep my original key!! im gonna contact mercedes in germany and ask them if i can make a custom ke.. i know its possible though mite be a bit expensive but its well worth it!

When you say "...its starting to go bad!!" do you mean the battery is dying or is there something else wrong. I assume you know the battery can be replaced?

isnt it possible to get the new s class key on the old s class cars? i mean it shape is the same and the new key looks cool.

Yes it is possible to get the smaller Key from the Dealer as I have gotten it, actually Last week I had to get one for my 1998 C230, and it came back as the smaller one too.
