2003 S600....Naked
I have a 03 S600, and I have researched all of the ECU upgrades. Brabus, Kleemann, Renntech, etc....and I have been the most pleased talking to the people at Renntech. They are very nice to deal with. I think I will be going with them. The owner worked building AMG race engines for about 15-20 years in Germany.....he is very good. Hope this helps.

You may have to take your ECU out and send it to the company you choose to have perform the upgrade. The ECU is very easy to take out, the company you choose should have instuctions. Unless you can find an authorized company that knows what they are doing.
Also there is usually a procedure that you will need to follow after the ECU update that each company want's you to follow in order for the ECU to boot up to your car correctly. Again very easy if you have the instuctions or a company representative is walking you through the procedure. Good Luck!

I'm quite capable of pulling the ECU and sending it off, but for $6400, I'm thinking the car goes to an authorized RENNTech dealer and they work their magic.... errr... drain your wallet.

The $6400 price tag is a huge price tag no doubt. But on the 600/65 engine, Renntech has to flash both the TCU and ECU. Without flashing the TCU, the car will automatically shift to neutral if it senses too much torque. (Torque management system will disable the car automatically) With Renntech's TCU and ECU flash, the problem is eliminated and your car will be very much quickier and torqui-er?
Btw, you can call me if you need further help in sending out the ECU/TCU.
Forget to add that the flash adds a manual mode to the transmission if the car doesnt have it.

Also note.... for that $6400 in the S600 you get 125 more horsepower, and around 150 ft lb of torque. This puts this car in the 11.7 sec range in the 1/4 mile @ 120-125 mph. This flash is very expensive, but compared to Brabus @ $11,000 for 65 horsepower it looks pretty good.

Theres Evosport as well that gives 98 HP for the 600s.
I have stage one evosport C32...but before I installed my pulleys...their chip alone was pretty good...
so i guess they have decent chips upgrades too

I;ve done Speedtuning before on my C55 (before I got a C32)...
I 've heard alot of bad stories on speedtuning...
from myexperience..
I didnt feel much gain from speedtuning on my C55, but my speed limit limiter was defintely removed.

renntech ecu upgrade for 2000-02 s500 adds 15hp and 20lb-ft of torque.
i'm thinking of going for it. it's pricey for not a whole lot, as far as hp gains($1600). but maybe there are other benefits such as improved throttle response and a flatter torque curve.
i suppose there's only one way to really find out!

I'm trying to get my money right and I am going to turn my car in to a full renntech s 600.....ECU, TCU, 19x9 and 19x10 monolites, and a renntech lowering module. Its hard to part with $15K though

There is a big difference. For a 600/65 twin turbo engine, Renntech ECU/TCU is the best for your car. Treynor and RogerV are the two person that will testify that their car have turned into a beast!
Chris, i can help you with the price tag. just give me a call when you have a chance.
