How many owners? Any service history? Maybe the MB pre cert negates these questions. Seems like a decent buy.

1 owner according to carfax.
Certified Pre-owned car.

Original warranty is gonna expire march of 2007...and then theres there CPO warranty for 12 months or 100,000 miles.

its does sound like a good buy huh!

but im wondering the resale after a year....i mean, the new S class is already out currently and the big hit from this even happenede already...

any thoughts?

If you go for this (and it sounds good), you should really consider the Starmark extended warranty. It will add one or two more years for an additional $2,400 or $4,000 . The V-12s are ungodly expensive to fix, and this is cheap insurance to help you sleep well through March 2010. The dealer might even give you a bit of a break on the price to close the deal.

You can't buy the Starmark extension after the sale.

I might go low ball the dealer soon to see what they can do about the price...

Anyone have any insights on depreciation for this car?

looks like a good buy...the dealer can definately go lower in price, offer them 45k and see what they say....I mentioned in an earlier thread that at a dealer auction I saw a 2005 S600 sport with 40-50k miles go for $50-55k

I just saw this 2005 S600 with only 7,794 miles advertised here locally in the San Francisco Bay Area for $ 59k. (It also has the $ 5,310 AMG Sport Package.) Here is the link:

Wow! If I wasn't looking at a 2006 S65 with 2k miles on it for $ 100k I would jump on this one! Thank God for us that these great cars are depreciating like crazy! (We second Owners get to save $ 60k to $ 90k!!!Yes!!!!)

Cheers!

beware of deb

greg - i tried to get info on the S600 posted on craigslist, and here's what i got below. i wrote her saying that i was very interested and had friends there to see the car, and never heard back from her...i didn't tell her that he was a cop, LOL.

Hi there Patrick.
I am invHawaii and so is the car. I'm selling it because I received it as a gift from my ex boyfriend which now I hate, so...
The title is clear, no liens.
We can make the deal through an escrow company or through ebaymotors, whichever suites you best.
The car is in showroom condition inside and out, garage kept. There are no dimples, dents depressions, scrapes, nor scratches anywhere. The paint is in fantastic condition as is the trim grill, bumpers, glass etc. The wheels are in "as new" condition with no abrasions and the tires are in excellent condition. The interior of this vehicle has no rips, tears, burns, stains, nor worn spots on the seats, carpet, door panels, nor anywhere else, smoke free.
If you wish to purchase it please provide me your full name and address so we can start the transaction.
Shipping takes 4-5 working days.
Looking forward for your reply,
Deb

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is!

Hey Patrick,

If it sounds and smells like a SCAM it is! Also, when old wisdom tells us that if something sounds too good to be true it usually is! Sounds like this is the same Deb that e-mailed me from Cell # 666 in San Quentin. LOL!!! (For those not familiar with San Quentin it is a prison where they lock up all the criminals...)

Sounds like the 05 S600 is a scam...but the 2006 S65 prices are in the 100k ballpark so that is in fact a great deal

Yes indeed my Friend! I got the same scamming e-mail that Patrick received from this Deb person, (Identical script probably from Nigeria or China...) and the questions that I asked on the e-mail I sent her were never answered??? (It kind of reminded me of this guy I knew in the past that when I asked him what time it is he repsonded with "Yes! The bus ride was great! He eventually ended up in a mental institution...Hello! )

I test drove the that S600 today, it looked real clean. The v12 Twinturbo was intoxicating..really...with the windows down and the music off...I could hear the turbos spooling up and then had a wastegate pressure release sound....
Of course it was really quiet....

The dealer wouldnt budge on the price and said 50k was a steal..
they also offered me an aweful trade in...much lower than what I was offered at another dealer..

...the sound of the turbos is still spooling inside my head now...

S600 and CL600 prices, yikes

a friend just came back from a high line auction today and saw a 2001 S600 40k mi go for less than $30k while a 2003 CL600 sport w/ 36k went for mid-$40's...both very clean.

my jaw about hit the floor when i heard these price and thought what a steal. however, his opinion is that the 2003 lease returns are just starting to come in. in fact, going into yr end if car dealers are already loaded up on V12's, he thinks the 03's could break $40k - yikes.

although i've been trying to stay at $30k +/-, i think that if i could get an 03 w/ full warranty for under $40k and then buy a 4 yr/100k extended warranty, man...that would be a tough thing to pass up. after all, in 4 yrs, the 7 yr old $140k TT V12 should be worth at least $15k-20k?

Its sad how these V12's depreciate like a rock. Its just unbelievable. I think I should probably just hold back for now until all the 03 leases come in.
