Door close assist stopped working

The door close assist stopped working on my s430. Just the left front door. Any ideas on how to fix this or what the problem could be?

sounds like you need a new vacuum pump.

My driver's door assist doesn't work if I shut the door while the electric steering column is moving. If I wait for the steering wheel to get into position the door close assist works just fine. It's one of those things that is mildly annoying but not enough so that I want to drop a few hundred bucks getting it fixed.

It is the vacuum pump. Depending on what year you have it will be covered by the warranty. Had mine replaced a couple months ago.

Would it be a vacuum pump if only the drivers door stooped? that's what happened to me.

Happened to me too. It was the pump and the door latch. Maybe they pulled the trigger on the pump too fast (they replaced it first according to the paperwork) and it was only the latch, but it was on warranty so I didn't care. In any case, they at least thought the pump could affect only one door.

Hmmm,, Well I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow to find out what happened.
They aligned my car yesterday day and mysteriously the drivers door isn't working today.
I'll let you guys know the verdict tomorrow. I am at 48,350 miles so I am barely still in warranty on this.

Well thats what my dealer told me. The pump is contected to all the doors, so if one goes the rest wil go soon after. It first happened to the driver door then passenger. They said those are the first to go, because the pump is in the trunk and the driver side door is the furthers away.

My service Rep told me that they want to change my pump also...
Because it's warranty, they have to check the doors for leaks also. This seems to the reason for a pump going bad. I'm just glad it's warranty.

https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/ot.gif Off the subject, my climate control is acting weird also. I only get hot air in Auto when the setting is HI. If I used a setting of 85, 0r 80. 0r whatever, the thing acts like it's in the middle of summer and blows cold air through the vents. But if I leave the temp, then dirve at night, it seems to behave ( sometimes ).
My service rep was able to see that also so they have to dig into that issue also.. I have to get all of these little irritating things fixed before my warranty goes https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Center vent blowing cold is a common complaint.

Search around on that one. You'll find a bunch of posts in the W220 area and the S55AMG area.

Seems the "Auto" mode of center vent likes to blow a little fresh air while the rest of the ports are trying to keep you warm.

I only notice this imbalance when it is cooler outside the vehicle.

Sometimes adjusting the roller switch to something other than the "A" automatic position will fix this.

I think it's just a poor design.

Now my wife tells me she heard air coming from the door when the door assist stopped working. Could it be a hose came lose somewhere in the door?
