Do you use the Keyless GO system?
I bought my car without the KG card (lost). I have been thinking about ordering the card ($284 at my dealer). I just worry that, like many other gadgets, I will enjoy it for a little while and then stop even using it.
Do you use yours? Do you use it all the time? If you lost your card, would you pay $284 for anew one?
Thanks!

esprit, for me, KG is a nice feature although i probably use it less than half the time. i would encourage you to get it. why not enjoy all your car has to offer? $284 may seem pricey and it probably is, but as i tell my wife, "if i only buy things that aren't a rip-off, i would have nothing".
i'm thinking if you bought your car from a MB dealer and haven't had it for too long, you could lean on them for the KG card without having to pay. then again, a MB dealer wouldn't sell a KG equipped car without the card, would they?
and i have also asked about the new key with the integrated KG. four employees at two different dealerships all have told me it's not possible. i remember reading here that a member has been able to replace his old key with the new one but i think it was without KG. it would be nice as the card is a bit cumbersome.

Back to the original question:
YES, I use the KG 100%. Most probably the most used gadget in my car. The card is not bulky at all, and the car opens and closes w/o fiddling in your pockets for the key. What would be the reason to have the KG function in the bulky key w/ or w/o chrome???????? Then you can use the key in the first place.
Go and get yourself a X-mas present and by the KG-card

KG is a system where you carry a card. As soon as this card gets close to the car and you touch the door handle it opens. If you are in the car with the card, there is a push button on the gear shift, push it and the engine starts, push again and the engine stops, no key required. Leave the car with the card push a little button on the door handles and the car locks up. Forget the card in the car, push the lock button and the car does not lock. Leave the card in the trunk and locking won't work. (smart, right?)....
Retrofit is very, very elaborate and expensive, if not to say impossible. You need to take half of the car apart, to install the antennas.....

Keyless Go
Keyless Go lets you lock and unlock your vehicle and start and stop the engine without using a key. A transponder located in the SmartKey identifies you, allowing you to unlock the door simply by touching the handle, and start your vehicle's engine at the touch of a button.

I have KG in my GL and it is on of my favorite options. When driving the GL, I use KG 100% of the time. Why wouldn't someone use it all the time?!?! Definately get the transponder--you will love the feature.
If the old credit card fob would fit in a wallet, I would think that would be great. I sort of wiched they had that for the GL. Doesn;t seem to make sense that I still need to carry a key for the GL since I have KG. But, I suppose they key serves as a good back up device should KG fail.

I have Keyless Go on the SL and it's variant on my LS430.
I love it, I urge anyone to make sure they order their next car with it.
The only complaint I have is a silly one: I think the sensitivity of the 'unlock' feature (when you put your hand on the handle) should be increased, or it should automatically unlock when you approach the car.

I don't think they would do that for security reasons because someone could like come get in your car with you or something lol
I have a question about Keyless Go, does the car recognize you are approaching and at least turn on the lights at night. That would bother me if it didn't

I thought about that, but I think the convenience outweighs the safety ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
On the LS430 it does and I think it does on the SL as well. I haven't been able to check since the coupe has been in the shop for a while.
