So how many owners on here are starting to think about changing brands. Was thinking of buying a 2007 But..
This 2004 S-55 is by far the worst one yet.
A/C overhaul last year. 15k miles
Lifters last year. 20k
Dash But now it has its own 10 year warranty.
Now they are changing the Cams Lifters and Chains trans mount. 30k
Had a 2000 S-500 with Electrical problems and Air-matic problems.
They seem to get much worse every year.
Not what they once were.
Now what to buy instead??

No, the Pile is still under warranty.
At the current failure rate I would not dare own one that was out of warranty. Once a great brand but now, just a car for anyone that can sign a lease ag-greed-ment .

You will be suprised how far MB has come with the new model S class. I have had numerous S classes including a 2005 S55 which was for crap. I love my new S600 though. No problems what so ever with this car. I think MB finally has some quality control in its plants.

Yes it should get moved. My mistake posted it in the wrong spot.
Buy I am sure in a few weeks it wont much matter as the 2007s will be falling apart at a fast rate. I see they already have a few recalls for several items. I think it may be time to go and buy new caddys and throw them away every year, at least I would not be surprised when they fall apart. Plus You would loss about as much as a S600 does every year you drive it.

80000 units already? wow!! thats more than I thought.
At that pace they are sure to be in the shop at a fast pace.
You can not build that Volume of cars of this "Caliber" with all the High Tech Todays must haves and have them be trouble free. They should go back and focus on what made them once the envy of other Companys. Quality not Quantity. They have cut so much out of these cars. When we got the first 2000 s500 I could not belive how the truck was held up with a long spring with a snap on plastic cover. Then the screw in the lower front wheelwell that sticks out like a after thought. They are making it fof the masses and that was not what they were orignally built for. So rather than build them right and charge what they had to they started to cut back and keep the prices seem low or the same as in the past. Anyone who has owned them in the past will tell you the same thing.

you guys need to testdrive a Lexus LS460L. it'll blow you away. and guess what, it'll be 100x more reliable, and have awesome resale value compared to the benz.

LS460L hp = 380hp or so.
S55 hp = 493hp or so.

2011 E350 Cabriolet..White and Almond Mocha
I posted some info on the W221 and x164 threads on the GL. I am dealing with Greg at Westminster MB in Denver...bought the S there and pleased with the entire dealership.

Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary concerning reliability and fit+finish?
This is going to be for my uncle and he does a lot of driving back and forth to the hospital.

I did some really really quick preliminary research on the truck, it still seems as if different dealers are getting different beginning allocations.

Indications are the truck is a pretty well put together one. An occasional gripe on some of the forums but most are pretty happy owners. The diesel is really well liked in sound and performance. The ones I looked at and the one I test drove looked excellent in fit and finish and materials. I ordered all the options except the RSE, hitch and heated read seats.

I know you love your S550 AMG,and it is very pretty BUT do you need to have such a big picture of it in your Sig. It is a bit large maybe you could make it a little smaller or just look at it in your driveway . Thanks
