03 S600, Removing Resonators
Has anyone ever removed the resonators on their TT S600? I am curious as to what that would do to the exhaust sound/tone. Sound clips?? That would be great!

2007 Väth SL65 AMG. 2007 BMW Alpina B5s. 2007 BMW M6.
Hi Iwalling.
I've done just that (taken away the last silencer on each side).
And I can HIGHLY recommend it! Everybody tells me I got a supersound! Not to loud, and still a very striking and massive sound!
Just let empty pipes replace them, and buy 4 oval exhausts at your local retailer like I did (90mm X 120mm). That is about the size what the S65 has. My total cost, including labour, was about $ 300,-.
But don't forget to cut out a piece of the bumper to make them fit nicer...

Hello,
Do you happen to have a sound clip? I'd love to hear it.
This is a relatively easy inexpensive thing to do that is reversible as well, so I am not to hesitant to give it a try.

I have an 03 S600 and removed the rear mufflers and resonators. We installed basic pipe in its place with the factory tips. Everyone loves the sound. Its amazing and calm until you hit the sqeeze pedal. Best $250 I ever spent.

Sound clip folks? Or, perhaps, DB readings at idle, cruise, wot ?
Removing the mufflers and the resonators both sounds a little extreme, I know the turbos and the cats muffle it a bit but damn! I don't want the car to be terribly loud, especially on the interstate?
