295/35/18 rears?
I was reading the std. specs on the AMG Sport S600 rears are 265/40/18's. That's the same spec as my Ferrari 355. I put the 295's on that car and they are great. The S600 has more torque and would probably benefit more from this change. The specs are almost identical except for an extra 30mm of tread.
Not sure what you mean about "enemy territory".

As far as benefiting from it, hell yes it will benefit from it. In fact, I always thought it was stupid for Mercedes to fit such narrow rubbers on the higher end high power cars. AMGs and 600s should come with 295s and be capable of upgrading to 315s IMO.
I have 15mm spacers and the 295's still fit just inside the well for a better look and better handling. If the MB std. tire sits in 1.5 cm we should be good to go.
A little camber adjustment should solve anything close.
I might be the first to try it??
What size rim are you running? 10.5?

Maybe Treynor will chime in here about his opinion. Let me know what you think of the 285's. Maybe a picture low from the rear, if you get a chance.
I was thinking about what you said here and I put these tire sizes in the wheel calc. If it was me, and I wanted 295's, I would consider 295/30/19.... not 295/35/19. I like a bit of sidewall for cushion but the the 30's are closer to stock and a little bit lower which should help with fit. I think your 285 idea is the best, but if you want 295's think about the 30's. Also they are avail. in Michelin PS/2.....

I still haven't been able to grab up enough bucks to get a subscription yet, I need to do that soon.
Tramlining is when the car will follow the grooves of the road because of the tires.
I'm not trying to discourage you from getting wider tires, just justifying why Mercedes doesn't put larger tires as OEM.

Ah, got it.... I can see how wider tires would "tramline".
Not sure they will work. I wanted to see what others have done. I'm much more interested in wider tires to help with grip than larger rims that will require low profile wheels and damage easier, stiffer ride, etc....
The wheels I like are the Lorinser RS8 / LM6..... anyone make something similar in 18's or do I have to go 19's?

Lorinser LM6
Hm, I'm not sure if I'd go for those wheels personally, but... ontopic... I don't know any companies that make anything like those wheels.
You might want to shoot Neal an email (neal@euroteckmotorsports.com) to see if he can source those wheels authentic in 18".

Hey! Dissin my style? ...lol
I don't think they were / are avail. in 18's, but I'll shoot him an email later.
