You're trippin on enemy territory there, but 295s might just work depending on wheel backspacing, offset and tire shoulders.

Sorry, never tried 295s.

Well,

I was reading the std. specs on the AMG Sport S600 rears are 265/40/18's. That's the same spec as my Ferrari 355. I put the 295's on that car and they are great. The S600 has more torque and would probably benefit more from this change. The specs are almost identical except for an extra 30mm of tread.

Not sure what you mean about "enemy territory".

Just because the F-car runs 295s fine doesn't mean the Benz can. There is a thread in the E55 forum where a member ran 295s and had his rubbers shredded all the plastics inside the wheel well torn. Then again, with the correct wheels and tires, E55 owners have also confirmed 295s work under certain circumstances.

As far as benefiting from it, hell yes it will benefit from it. In fact, I always thought it was stupid for Mercedes to fit such narrow rubbers on the higher end high power cars. AMGs and 600s should come with 295s and be capable of upgrading to 315s IMO.

Yep,

I have 15mm spacers and the 295's still fit just inside the well for a better look and better handling. If the MB std. tire sits in 1.5 cm we should be good to go.

A little camber adjustment should solve anything close.

I might be the first to try it??

That will be the problem..........

The Ferrari has 10's and they are fine. I think the AMG's are 9.5, correct? Not sure if I want to go custom. Michelin does spec 10-11.5

You are running stock rims? Which kind, the split spokes? 295s on 9.5 is too wide I would think.

The car has stock AMG, non split.

Regarding the 9.5's, you might be correct.

295 is the largest you could put on a 9.5 rim. I will be ordering 285/35/19 next week to put on mine. Not to sure if s600 and s55 fitments are the size but it should be. Also when treynor on this site had his 600 I belive he had 295/35/19 on his. This was my initial choice but there is not a tire company that makes matching 255/40/19 and 295/35/19.

Thanks Shaun........

Maybe Treynor will chime in here about his opinion. Let me know what you think of the 285's. Maybe a picture low from the rear, if you get a chance.

Shaun,

I was thinking about what you said here and I put these tire sizes in the wheel calc. If it was me, and I wanted 295's, I would consider 295/30/19.... not 295/35/19. I like a bit of sidewall for cushion but the the 30's are closer to stock and a little bit lower which should help with fit. I think your 285 idea is the best, but if you want 295's think about the 30's. Also they are avail. in Michelin PS/2.....

Larger tires tramline easier newton22, and it offers more drag at higher speeds, not to mention that you feel "more" bumps.

These aren't pure-bred sports cars, they are also Limo's

Hey VRAA, are you still on Fchat? What do you mean "tramline"? Also, I'd trade the minimal extra drag for traction any day.

Yep, I still participate heavily in the "Other Off Topic"
I still haven't been able to grab up enough bucks to get a subscription yet, I need to do that soon.

Tramlining is when the car will follow the grooves of the road because of the tires.

I'm not trying to discourage you from getting wider tires, just justifying why Mercedes doesn't put larger tires as OEM.

Ah, got it.... I can see how wider tires would "tramline".

Not sure they will work. I wanted to see what others have done. I'm much more interested in wider tires to help with grip than larger rims that will require low profile wheels and damage easier, stiffer ride, etc....

The wheels I like are the Lorinser RS8 / LM6..... anyone make something similar in 18's or do I have to go 19's?

Lorinser RS8

Lorinser LM6

Hm, I'm not sure if I'd go for those wheels personally, but... ontopic... I don't know any companies that make anything like those wheels.

You might want to shoot Neal an email (neal@euroteckmotorsports.com) to see if he can source those wheels authentic in 18".

Well the reason for 35 profile is New York streets are so hard on any rims(on my second set) larger that 18". Trust me if I wasn't worried about the tire profile, I would put on the largest I could get away with. Thanks for the input.
