Something Fell Inside The Cupholder!
Help! I have a very expensive blue tooth headset. Today i sat the ear piece in the open cup holder in my 2001-S500! My friend got in the car, and closed the cup holder and the blue tooth headset dropped beneath the cup holder! Help! I noticed there is some loose coins down in there too. Does anyone know how i can get inside that area where the cup holder folds away? PLEASE HELP ME.

I am pretty sure its like my CL cup holder.
Its in the center console. Look for a place where you can push
with a coin or small screwdriver. The enire assembly will just lift out.
They break real easy so MBZ made them easy to remove.
Get your coins and headset. And then slip it back in. Snap

There is a realease switch inside the arm rest. Then, the whole cupholder assembly comes out.

Removing the cup holder from 2000 S430
My factory cup holder cannot shut all the way on my 2000 S430. Can this be fixed? I would like to remove the whole unit if possible. According to this post, it sounds like there is a slot somewhere inside the center console where you can use a coin or screwdriver to pry it open. But where is it? Please post some pics if possible. Thanks.

hm...my 04 s430's cup holder just slides straight up...it was giving me problems so i got pissed and ever since i just kinda forcefully pulled it out, its been fine ever since...you can probably just pulll it straight up...but maybe mine was so easy to take out because it was previously replaced?

This will not work for the pre 02 W220. The 04 cup holder is different from the pre 02. The pre 02 is located in the armrest while the 04 is right behind the shifter.
1st pic is pre 02, 2nd pic is 03 then 3rd pic is 04-06

There were several coins and a plastic bottle top rattling around in there and the bottle top would prevent the mechanism lid from folding down.
I got out of it without dismantling the whole piece by using a torch - a screwdriver to gently hold things open for me so I could get access and a pair of long nose pliers. The whole excercise can't have taken more than 5 minutes - I just plucked the offending articles out with the pliers.
Should be just as easy for you.

I had the same problem with my 2000 S320Cdi when I first bought it.

Some years ago I did the same thing Benzene320 did - and I used a flashlight, vice a Bernz-O-Matic, as whoover recommended.
