S430 - S500 basic info needed
I am considering buying a 2006 S430 or S500. Is there a web site which has basic info as far as
* mechanical problems common on these models
* things to look for when buying one
* key differences between the 2
* options I should definitely have
* any other general info

I'm definitely getting a 500, just a question now of what I can find...want an 06 model w/ AMG package for the 19" wheels...
I found 1 on ebay with AMG package, wheels are chrome...did MB offer this, or would that be an after=market add on?

That depends on the year and what was ordered.In 2003 and later that all changed.After 2003 all of the available options were available for all w220 cars other than the engine.
My car has a lot of options that were not available on pre 2003 S430's like heated steering wheel, TPMS, and eucalyptus trim. If anyone wants to know the real scoop, I have a 28 page brochure on the 2004 w220's.
Also, the car listed on Ebay has the exact same options as my 430 except the trunk closer, and I'm not sure if he has a phone system but it does not have voice control and mine does.

The size is exactly the same between the 430 500 55 and 600. It's all the w220 body so they are exactly the same size only different weights because of the motors.
Also an interesting note, because of options selections, it is possible to have a 430 with more toys than a 500 so just because you find a 500 does not mean that it was exactly loaded so keep this in mind when shopping.
